How many of you have the capacity to weigh your bags for the lwt? They should be no more than 16kg each.

Another procedure that gets completely ignored and lwt’s using the correct weights takes way longer than those that put a heavy bag over their shoulder…..it’s insane to think otherwise.

As for loops being planned with the lwt’s in mind , they should be but they’re not.

I’ve done rounds with blocks of flats halfway round a loop , you are not meant to leave a lwt unattended because you can’t lock it.

Also , there’s a limit weight-wise going up hills within them but planners ignore that too.

I’ve mentioned this at every revision that’s been done in any office I’ve been in.

Some right crazy comments on here , if lwt’s were quicker , more people would use them.

FYI , I’ve always used them.

Isn’t it that the first bag could be a max of 16kg but subsequent bags must drop to 11kg and below?

That used to be the case but the ssow changed to say that all bags could be 16kg on a lwt.

If you are loading-up an LWT with your loop plus his/her loop, extra packets and parcels, plus d2ds, aren’t you defeating the object of using it, by pushing and lugging around far more weight than you were carrying in a bag, over twice the distance because you are doing their loop too?
Stop being controversial.

Using Lwt certainly adds between 10/20 minutes per loops on my duty. Its just a fact. It is necessary to use one some days
(Most days now) to free the driver for parcels.
While driver delivers them, remember I am delivering his mail, D2D'S and small packets and tracked.
Using a lwt does add time to your duty. Anyone who says different either doesn't use one or is a manager.
Your post doesn't make any sense.
You say using the lwt adds 10/20 minutes per loop but then you state that you are also doing your partner's loop.
So it is doing your partner's loop that adds 10/20 minutes and not the lwt.

I use an lwt. It doesn't add any time to the duty. I am not a manager. Perhaps you might like to check the rules of using this site. I am frankly sick and f***ing tired of people accusing anyone with a difference of opinion of being a manager. Grow up FFS.
I never said that you were a manager.
Funny you thought so.

The only way using an LWT "adds" time to a duty is if you're taking shortcuts when you're not using one.

I'm sure you can run faster without one but is that the point people are making, that it's easier to carve the job up with a bag?

I think most of us already knew that.

Sorry Woody, using a trolley ads time time to a loop, it just does

Lots of people have said it does.
Nobody has really explained how it does.

Well granted many using a bag will use short cuts across the front of houses if possible and such like so those few yards ad up. I know people say the jobs are timed with trolleys in mind but they arnt really. The people that have set up the jobs in my office did not have a clue. A job I did for many years was revised some years ago with the introduction of shared Van's and should have been set up for trolleys, but covering the same ground with a trolley as I used to using a bag and pouch boxes increased the time by 10 to 15 mins,2 bags on the trolley on the first loop and 5 to 10 on the rest of the loops, just my experience. Incidentally there wasn't much scope to cut corners on that job,it was 90% detached properties so no cutting across gardens or driveways

You have to stop more with an lwt, off & on kerbs, manoeuvre around hazards on the pavement. Although it's quicker & easier carrying a bag, it knackers your body.

Absolutely, I think someone earlier mentioned small loops,if at all possible that's the best with regards to not buggering yourself up

The bag only has to be as heavy as you want it to be. I can break a loop down into three, into four, into five - whats the big deal if you know the walk?
