Helston DO COM
Hi Simon, there is a lot of concern regarding our ability to manage our staff when the revisions go live.
Staff are saying they will cut off and they will slow down to avoid PDA actual gaps, I have seen this during the strikes.
in the past we have been given processes which show the staff should complete, ie call rate and IWT data, even their own previous performance.
I follow these processes and the staff still tell me they are cutting off and that you can’t compare different days.
When I send the data on and ask for support I get none so am left with cut offs and extended pressure which I want to challenge but can’t successfully.
What will be different? what processes and possible outcomes will there be to ensure staff work efficiently?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

And what would happen when he finds out which ones are?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Ignoring the bit about staff saying they'll slow down, really? The assumption is every day is exactly the same and shouldnt deviate from what the computer says. That pretty much sums management

then they've got no argument clash. they are quick enough to say things are doable when they are clearly not. tbf, our com has said to his superiors that the hours they want out are simply NOT doable (well he says he's told them) and has since pulled the lapsing. it is of course totally true that in some cases, posties are clearly taking the piss. most aren't.

The computer always knows what the road traffic is like, how many people will answer their door in 10seconds and stuff like that.........yawn. It's a real world out there, about time they used real world data not made up stuff. What happened to a manager actually following you to actually see?pieoftheday wrote: ↑12 Jan 2023, 18:56pieoftheday wrote: ↑12 Jan 2023, 18:55Ignoring the bit about staff saying they'll slow down, really? Everyday is different with call rate, who's in/who's out re delivery of parcels, unforeseen hold-ups/delays. Plus the COM trying to compare others to others re speed who perform the same duty. This could easily be construed as discrimination & also grounds for constructive dismissal.
They (RM) are backing themselves into a corner
Would they prefer to hassle you at the expense of you going off with stress & for how long?
Meanwhile the duty/workload then has to be covered?
RM very quickly are going to be reaching the point of diminishing returns.
Basically having to replace experienced staff with less experienced staff who won't be upto speed any time soon
The magic performance target of 196 WIPGH will be well & truly out of the window
Therefore resulting in more & more daily fail.
Rinse & repeat: Applause

I actually feel a little bit sorry for these types of managers. Imagine being that pathetic to message the ceo trying to suck up to him and show him what a good little bullying narcissist you are. One of the big things about this dispute which doesn’t get enough attention is how Royal Mail want to use pda data to monitor and conduct staff. We cannot let these empty company drones loose with that kind of power.

For some places you can actually get real-time traffic data for the roads. On the website that I use to look up any roadworks that might affect us, it has an option to view real-time traffic datarambo1 wrote: ↑12 Jan 2023, 19:06The computer always knows what the road traffic is like, how many people will answer their door in 10seconds and stuff like that.........yawn. Our rep today told us that the area manager said the call rate was 17% for yesterday, 17 letters per 100 houses? Where the f**k do they get these figures from?

Good question, the sequenced, presume they should be able to get it from the QR's on the parcels if they've been through a sorting machine that scans them at the mailcentre but what about everything else.
Plus they try to make out that if your call rate is say 50% then it should only take you half as long to do your duty but obviously it doesn't work like that as you still have to travel all the way round just not stopping as often.

Re: RMCtv : Helston DO your COM is coming for you-are you guys that thick?
Surely they mean 17% that you are NOT going to?
Next time you are fully prepped up ask a manager to take a look at the gaps. I'm on a rural and put all my d2d in on a Monday, I take where i'm going with mail. By wednesday I've usually only got a hand full left in frame. That sure as hell wouldn't happen with 17% call rate LOL.
