REP not recognised?

Post by luddite »

Being told that as of today we are not allowed to have rep present in any 1 to 1 meetings with management. They are no longer recognised in the workplace apparently.
f***ing bullshit, is this North Korea!
Has this been mentioned anywhere else or is it only our powered crazed c*** on an ego trip. :coolr

Simply refuse to attend any 1-to-1 meetings.

Refuse to enter any and all meetings without having your rep or another trusted member of staff present as a witness. Make exhaustive notes of what was said by whom and what agreements, if any, were agreed upon. Put this all in writing, 1 copy for yourself, 1 copy for the member being represented, 1 copy for the attending manager and 1 copy to be filed in the union office.

Do not believe their lies.

Always ask for any minutes of the meetings you do attend in writing and read them carefully checking for any discrepancies when compared to your own exhaustive notes. Do everything by the book and maintain your calm as management loses theirs. Record all this and how it all made you and the person you are representing feel. They do not get to tell you how you feel.

Our rep just smiled when he made the announcement. I wouldn't attend any meeting with the c*** without a witness, I'm guessing if the rep attends he will be as a friend or colleague. We'll wait to see what happens.

Does not matter if the individual is a rep or not.

The Law states through the ACAS Code of Practice, a Trade Union official, work colleague, or an approved companion requested may accompany an employee with any disciplinary meeting.

Yes I agree.
I think the manager wasn't refusing a colleague but not recognising the role of the rep. We will see.

1 to 1's for what?
Redundancy talks?
conduct?
Attendance meetings?

The screws at ours came out with the not recognising the union months ago, they still have reps in for attendance or conduct etc though. :hmmmm
Our Branch advised us reps that in any 1 to 1's regarding any redundancy or revisions NOT to engage them and to advise our members to decline any 1 to 1's and that was weeks ago as well.

Now the truce has come and we are expected to engage again in revisions etc?
WTF????
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

Not sure that's legal.
