Please be aware
Please be aware that the last time that strike action went on for this long, staff got the worst deal that you could ever imagine, which was a pay CUT,people that have been in the business long enough remember that ALL our door to door money was replaced with a one off payment for everyone,EVEN people that worked in office that didn’t even deliver door to doors, my point is if we need to stay on strike for whatever it takes, DO NOT BACK DOWN, BECAUSE AS PROVED IN THE PAST, THIS UNION HAS SOLD US SHORT IN THE PAST,PLEASE PLEASE STAY OUT UNTIL THIS UNION SORTS A DEAL FOR WHAT WE PAY THEM FOR AND DO NOT VOTE YES UNTIL YOU SEE A GOOD DEAL,because if union and management get round the table to sort a deal out, you will guaranteed be shafted and that is a fact as has been proved in the past

Bit of a SHOUTY first post
I've been around for a long time too and don't recall past events the same as you. Under the Adam Crozier/ Allan Leighton regime they wanted to stop us being paid for Households (D2Dr's) altogether. It was only after a long period of talks the union eventually negotiated The Delivery supplement, it's not perfect but it's a lot better than what AC & AL wanted to give us....i.e Bugger all
You might shout that the Union sold us short but I'm guessing you would rather have been paid the Delivery supplement for however many years it has been rather than the alternative of no payment at all for doing D2D's.
I'm also not sure that EVEN people that worked in (sic) office get paid it that didn't even deliver door to doors, but hopefully someone can put us right on that one too!

Re: Please be aware
Not to mention we never got d2d payment when on annual leave but we get the delivery supplement all year round, so didn’t turn out bad at all .Also there would be weeks where you never got d2d so no payment that week.theargyspy wrote: ↑05 Jan 2023, 19:03Bit of a SHOUTY first post![]()

It also doesn’t take into account that you get paid it even when you have no D2Ds for the week. Over Christmas we had jack s**t on ours. I think two weeks in a row we had zero and last week one.

Re: Please be aware
The worst one was the royal shafting we got for share in success. The people that left on vr got £1500 and we ended up with that £50 a year at xmas.
The annual bonus went because of share in success. The last one I got was £800. So 15 plus years of £50 wasn’t anywhere near it.
I totally agree we will be stitched up this time. A real terms pay cut for any member should be rejected.

Re: Please be aware
Ive been on a few strikes and the job has never got any better after ive returned. The door to door payments were awesome in their day. I used to do the leaflets for the two blokes next to me as they hated them. All terrace housing. It was a licence to print money if you didn't mind a little graft. Nowadays no one gets paid for them and no one deliverers them , (we'll officially they do
) another decline of the job. Along with then pension. I'm amazed anyone under the age of 25 would want to work here for a year let alone stay .

Re: Please be aware
Jobs never as good as it was before the strike.
When I first started I was done by 10am pretty much every day. I’d do half a walk overtime most days and still be done before my finish time.
Great for me. Not a great business model though.
It’s still a good job though. Overtime is there if you want it or you can just work to your time.
Even with most of the proposed changes it will still be a good job for many.

If you work in a delivery office you get the delivery supplement regardless of your roll.theargyspy wrote: ↑05 Jan 2023, 19:03Bit of a SHOUTY first post![]()

Re: Please be aware
There won't be much overtime, in our office 8 walks going, all of a sudden we have 4 agency staff taking out walks,i can guarantee they will be used instead of overtime to mop up the cut offs, done a quick calculation and if you dropped that many walks in all the offices in the country we will lose around 10000 staff ,natural wastage through the back door, the 2 tier workforce has started right under our nose.FilthyBloke wrote: ↑05 Jan 2023, 20:23Jobs never as good as it was before the strike.

Re: Please be aware
We must have the worst union? Who would negotiate a deal for overtime which is less than normal hourly rate?

Compared to the others the cwu is really not good. Terrible hardship fund struggling members failing to access and poor communication to members . Look at the recent BT deal for an example of how poor form they are in lately.
