We’ve been told duties that didn’t deliver oversized will now be taking them on and the parcel drivers will become reserves… But then we also had agency out til 5pm delivering second class parcels, something’s definitely not right.

Presumably this is offices that had revisions for longer walks but with a parcel duty ?

Sort of suspected that was destined to end this way.

Yes. All the duties are van duties in our area as there are a few sections in our office.

Makes me think that RM have decided to abandon the local parcel hubs idea as I thought that they were meant to be doing the oversize parcels

Parcel hubs will deploy from mid February onwards, initially only doing their own large parcels. Work from surrounding offices will move to hubs in later revisions. Some offices with parcel routes already should retain these until parcel hub takes them on.

Methinks it's all gonna come tumbling down like a big pack of (delayed since early December) cards.
Bigger walks than what can't be achieved already under the proviso of you'll have a few big pkts taken off you for the parcel guy to go out his way to do and not leave them in a safe place because he doesn't know the walk, so hence will bring them back to start it all over again the next day. It's madness. Offices which claim 500hrs a week being tasked to cut 500hrs is only going to end badly. The only way that they may think it'll work is to force in commit to deliver. If that happens most will find another job anyway though. Fun times ahead.

If they bring in all their changes and make you commit to deliver a crazy amount just bring back what you can’t manage in a reasonable time. If they sack you then you’ve probably had a lucky break.

They definitely don’t. Same at our place, walks were extended with parcels removed in the last revision. Now the longer walks are having parcels put back onto them. They’ve got no chance.

We have been told privately by our decent hardworking managers (a rare thing indeed) that RM know that the new longer duties are not achievable and therefore staff/managers will arrange for part of the duty mail to go out one day and the other part the following day. I can see the business case for this but it effectively introduces a three day USO,......does Ofcom care?

Whole office got told last August before the dispute that Large parcels would be taken off us and several walks would be amalgamated which would mean delivery spans would be bigger than normal. It's not happened yet with the walks being bigger and parcels being taken off us something doesn't seem right.

Over the past couple of months AGENCY staff have been taking the big parcels and are still continuing with this exercise.

Is this the start of owner driver taking large parcels and being paid a minimal amount to clear it. Meanwhile we get the short straw by walking longer.
