The point of continued strikes is long term disruption. Any business that is unable to offer a service that isn't blighted with continuous uncertainty, will have to address the workforce at some point. RM is banking on people giving up now, and not even bothering to vote for IA. They're announcing whatever unagreed change they can, to distill the feeling that all hope is lost. Of course they're using other means to provide some sort of service, but this is unreliable and no replacement for 115,000 disgruntled workers, that are routinely dropping tools and standing at the gates. We have two options, as far as I see it. Continue the strikes, or give up and accept redundancies, and cuts to our terms.Seymour Buts wrote: ↑04 Jan 2023, 16:44Can't help but feel we're on a road to nowhere. We've got Rhyde (or whatever they're called) drivers doing oversized, and the lats. They're advertising new jobs on the lower rate we're striking against. So what exactly is gonna be achieved with further strikes? I don't wanna give up on principle, but can't help but feel further strikes is just saving them money on the days we're off whilst the Ryde drivers just mop up the work.

Re: No strikes until March
Don't the existing national ballots (which haven't run out yet) allow for action to be taken locally? Willing to be corrected on thiswalthmstowman wrote: ↑04 Jan 2023, 17:04
Well in my friends MC collection drivers have already been told they will be losing their driving allowance this month plus their clusterfuck of a resign is already on the wall waiting for people to choose their new duties .. Apparently they are hopping mad and want the strikes to start up again immediately . IMO, the ballot is going to be another huge YES.

Re: No strikes until March
If that's the case then more strikes should be called right now .yellowbelly wrote: ↑04 Jan 2023, 17:16Don't the existing national ballots (which haven't run out yet) allow for action to be taken locally? Willing to be corrected on thiswalthmstowman wrote: ↑04 Jan 2023, 17:04

Re: No strikes until March
I think it'd need Rule 13 ballots for local strikes, don't know what the time frame would be for them, but would assume the basic process is the same as for national strikesyellowbelly wrote: ↑04 Jan 2023, 17:16Don't the existing national ballots (which haven't run out yet) allow for action to be taken locally? Just been told there are talks next monday and with the CWU twitter feed being dead for days it is pretty obvious that they are taking this week off too as extended xmas break,
They'll run you out till march mate don't you worry about that
Not wanting to create a backlog that might disrupt the postal ballot papers you see

They can offer a basic service now, that happens to suit their agenda which is to deliberately kill off letters. Our office could shift all priority now, with the Ryde staff and agency on strike says. Said from the get go, once the priority stuff is covered the strike is lost.Halfhappy wrote: ↑04 Jan 2023, 17:10The point of continued strikes is long term disruption. Re: No strikes until March
They aren't offering a basic service. They're offering uncertainty and disruption. People are not going to use a service, basic or not, they can't rely on, and that's exactly what RM currently is. They might be trying to deliberately kill off letters, I don't know, but there's still a USO in place that they can't continue to ignore. As much as people think that ST has unlimited power, and resources, he hasn't.Seymour Buts wrote: ↑04 Jan 2023, 19:16They can offer a basic service now, that happens to suit their agenda which is to deliberately kill off letters.
