I really don't get this "give up" position. I honestly fail to see any advantage in it, to anyone in a uniform and, for that matter, any management one level above. Seriously, it's barely been 10 days since the last IA. We've had a couple of weeks of peace and quiet, over a public holiday, and it's apparently game over and everyone has given up. Really people, it's been the Christmas holidays, nothing was ever going to be discussed, put forward, rejected or announced at a time when most people aren't working, especially the ones who make decisions. RM's plan has always been to starve us out, and let support ebb, ST (if his contract is renewed) is counting on a low turn out and a 51% yes vote at the worst. In the interim RM are going to impose whatever changes they can to make all of us suffer, lose hope and give up. That doesn't mean any of the unagreed change they enforce, can't be replaced with agreed change through negotiation, and RM will have to be forced to do that. Maybe we should just wait and see what comes about, now the world is back to work.

Oh you don't think so eh, well I'd say all the signs are there, when the previous CEO a man who also deserves little respect comes out and gives little Thompson a coating things aren't good, and when we get a solid yes vote his position gets even weaker, gotta bear in mind Rico has a huge stake in Royal Mail or whatever we're called this week, this IA was supposed to be broken by now that was Thompsons job, it looks like the powers that be are looking for a meat sacrifice and to me it looks very Thompson shaped the perfect useless sack of lard to throw under the bus, and what we'll be fighting for is our conditions of work, like we have in the past when we won those conditions in the first place why give them up for nothing, pay us, also people have realise that each office has to fight individually for its conditions, it's always Where's the union, look in the mirror you're the union, stay strong we win, weaken we lose, whatever they try has to work and for that they need our compliance, do just your job as it should be and nothing more

Exactly . No company can be successful and profitable with a disgruntled workforce constantly taking industrial action . I think Royal Mail needs an agreement as much as the CWU .

When you have been out on strike for a union for a long time, there are ways that workers will show their union their displeasure at their tactics or "not putting offers to a ballot" etc or even taking extended xmas holiday when they should be in talks, that is what we are paying our subs for.

Some will show their displeasure by crossing the picket line and returning to work, i will show mine by abstaining from any new ballot.

Talks on Monday they say. The same deal will probably be offered, one last time. How about do something useful and ballot that. There seems little appetite for striking from those that ive asked. It's ST'S time to write his own joint agreement and tell dave ward he'd better sign it.

If the same deal is offered it will be rejected again . It was unacceptable before and it's still unacceptable . Management have to understand there will never be any peace until an agreement is reached .

But what if the union are wrong. What if letters have reached a critical point. I for one believe they have.. it takes double mail to feel challenged. Put that down to whatever reason you like. But to follow the union without question and at huge personal sacrifice is just plain daft.
The changes aren't that bad. Some will work, some won't. Notice how dave ward doesn't publicly specifically say they want us to work a bit later and the odd Sunday. Most service jobs do that.
