Can someone work out if im due any lieu days over xmas/New Year.

Post by postiewhite »

My annual leave started Monday 26th Dec (Boxing day) and ended Saturday 31st Jan so am I right in thinking I should get back some hours and if so then is it one day for boxing day or is it two days as I dont think anyone worked on the 27th? . I took a screenshot of my remaining annual leave entitlement before my leave started and it says I have 20.7hrs remaining. It is still showing 20.7hrs so should I have more added due to me having last week off and if so how many days/hrs?

You don't get hrs added on, they (supposedly) don't use the full week of annual leave, so in your case you would have used up whatever hrs you were due to work on the wed/Thur/fri and Saturday, presuming one of those wasn't your rota day off too. If it was, then you don't use up those hrs either. Hope that helps.

Im lost still. So when I booked that week off a year ago they took off less hours from my entitlement (at the time of booking). Is that what you mean? At the time of booking that week off a year ago I was on a 4 day duty (with wed and thur off) and recently ive been put on a 5 day duty but that 20.7hrs remaining has stayed the same.

Don't forget RM are about to do the adjustments to leave entitlement for this financial year due to the strikes

Have you got the people app? If so its itemised on there, which days they have took. They no longer take a stat 5 days for example for a week off and then credit you with the bank holidays that may have been in your annual leave week (they do it in hrs now too, not days). They should only have taken off your allowance, the hrs you would have worked from Wednesday 28th to Saturday 31st, had you been at work.
The crediting of bank holidays only applies if your rota day off falls on a bank holiday, then you'll get those hrs for that day credited into your leave allowance.

If your wed/thur was same every week, then they probably only took Friday and Saturday hrs off your allowance. You may find that actually you owe them hrs for one day during that week off if you only had one sheduled rest day now during the week.

Yes it has worked in my favour looking at it as ive only used 22.5hrs for that week instead of 24hrs on the new 5 day rota so they used the old 4day rota as I did work 7.5hrs a day over 4 days.

Having said that my old days off were Wed/Thu so had I still been on this rota then my allowance deducted should have only been for 2 days (because boxing day and Tuesday are bank holidays and my old days off would have been wed and thu). So in a nutshell had I still been on the old 4 day rota they would have owed me 7.5hrs because they should have only taken 15hrs off my allowance not 22.5hrs. As it stands now that they have changed my rota to 5 days I now owe them 1.5hrs.

I think ive got that right.!!!

 have a sit down and a cuppa. Used to be much easier in the old days if I recall.

You'll lose some of your allowance shortly when they do the adjustments to leave entitlement as a result of the strikes

Change was imposed on me. In the revision I chose the 4 day over a 5 day duty and now 8 months later was told I was a 5 day cover. There are people been here two minutes already on a duty and ive done 10yrs service and im now a cover. Stinks!!

That’s a shame, I feel for you. I am on a 4 day week, Weds/Thurs off and it’s probably the biggest thing making me stick around however rumours are circulating that they are going to put me back on 5 days soon. If so I’ll be awkward and do my contracted hours over 5 days (works out 5hrs 30mins ish a day) until I find another job.

It’s ridiculous when you think about it, there’s a huge shift among a lot of businesses for employees to work 4 days and be paid for 5 days with the expectation they’ll be more productive. I accept 4 days pay for 4 days work, I’d even be open to changing my days off as it seems daft I get the 2 busiest days of the week off, I’d settle for Sun/Mon/Tues off but no not even that’s good enough for backwards RM.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

All sensible ideas come from the people who do the job. Of course, none are implemented, that comes down to the people who have no clue.
