Rico weighs in ....
Times article, behind a paywall but the top bit says...
The embattled chief executive of Royal Mail is under fresh pressure this weekend after his predecessor accused him of mishandling the industrial dispute that threw Christmas deliveries into chaos, and criticised his lack of experience.
Rico Back, who founded Royal Mail’s European parcel-delivery business and ran the group between 2018 and 2020, said the board had “wasted time” and “not executed properly” in negotiations with the postal workers’ union. He added that Simon Thompson, who joined as chief executive two years ago from the online grocer Ocado, had not run a big company before and did not know the logistics industry. “Both together is a toxic mixture,” he said.
It goes on after but 12ft.io struggles with the times paywall now

Great article. Hope Thompson feels stung. Doubt he’ll change course because he doesn’t understand why he’s an issue.vmaxv4 wrote: ↑01 Jan 2023, 10:53Full article here https://archive.ph/PfU3Z

Re: Rico weighs in ....
His article speaks volumes & clearly lays the blame for this clusterfxck mess at the CEOs & boards door!
The union by many on this forum has been harshly criticised, when RM are fully to blame.
Time for ST & the board to go & go now.
The only way forward now is a 'fresh team' to be put in place that can properly engage with the union & take the current battered, bruised & insulted workforce with it.
Happy New Year.

Re: Rico weighs in ....
It's very unusual to hear a previous boss criticise the current one. His points about lack of experience are being borne out by his actions. Petty comments, bizarre videos, bullying managers to lie , that is not the actions of an experienced leader of a multi billion £ company. There must come a time when the government will start asking questions. Not so much about the dispute but about what the board's plans and strategies are in regard to the uso and splitting the company. The government know that if they split the company it will get left with sorting out what's left. Good luck with that. Surely it's just a matter of time before tge results of 2 years of poor management comes crashing down. No amount of blaming the union will cover it up. I just hope it's sooner rather than later.

With a General Election in just over 12 months that Labour are almost certain to win, very much doubt the current lot realy care. As long as they have taken the final piece of meat off the bones.

Of all places it's astonishing that this type of criticism should be coming from Rico Back. It goes to prove just how bad Simon Thompson and the current board have been during this dispute .

Re: Rico weighs in ....
And what % of shares does Rico currently hold in Royal Mail and price he obtained them at?
VESA 24% stake in Royal Mail and with that almost certain acquisition of GLS, probably a controling stake in Royal Mail as well when put to the shareholders as a buy out.
You think Rico cares about the company and employees after they way they treated him?
Rico is simply looking after his own assets, nothing more.

As long as he is criticising Thompson I don't care if he is doing it for his own reasons.I don't care if Thompson is a puppet for whoever, but I'd rather see him gone regardless can't stand him or the crap he writes/tweets whatever.redlen wrote: ↑01 Jan 2023, 15:54And what % of shares does Rico currently hold in Royal Mail and price he obtained them at?

Could you have a general election without a fully functioning postal industry? Polling cards and election material are a vital part of the election and without us, who will deliver all that crap?

Bloody Hell we must be getting desperate if we’re looking at Rico Beck as our saviour!
Just look at the workers rights in GLS the Company he created.
