Ninety yorks of parcels sent to Atherstone yesterday afternoon took the pressure off. As far as I know, sorting at Atherstone is all manual, so it might look slightly ironic if that location being used to bail out a mail centre that is then more likely to hit its targets for sorting using the PSM.

Even quieter than last night. Some of the CSS batches were small enough that you didn't need the green cards at all

Loads of people salivating and chuckling at the backlog as if some kind of victory has been achieved.

Late is late. We're gonna clear it all in a few weeks.
The bosses couldn't give a toss about the speed of that clearance, being a sh*t service is a way of life now for them.

Well well, as this post points out...."as if by magic".......imagine my shock when I went in this morning to an office absolutely rammed with Yorks and trays everywhere. Where did it all come from? Couldn't be the backlog as Simon Thompson said it was cleared!! Plus we had 12 blokes in on earlies trying to clear the 'imaginary' backlog since 4am, without so much as even putting a dent in it. Oh and the dom/com says "stop prepping" at 7.45 to attempt to get out at a reasonable time, and just leave what you have left as there is "plenty more" where that came from. And it will take us a FEW WEEKS to get back to normal working!! Could Simon have been LYING? : :hmmmm :Very Happy

Nope, just less casuals/agency needed. Think some of it is where firms are shut over the holidays. I'm expecing to see a large drop off in packets and Tracked over the next few months as the cost

More likely his MC will close and the work moved elsewhere.

Long term I think RM will look at automating out of existence just about all the indoor work in DOs (which would mean just about 100% automation in MCs). I don't think walks as you know them will exist. they'll probably have something like the REX software but a much scaled up version which will plan the walks for the day
