Deliveries with over 60+ trays of mec / buddy boxes / sorted mail

Our office is absolutely wrecked, finito, history… unless they pour 100’s of hours into it on O/T , there’s deliveries with at least 60 / 70 trays of mail not touched, some I kid you not 100 + .
Nobody wants to do overtime because morale is shot, we’re at least 15 short staffed from last years count, not replaced people going… also 18 on sick ( short / long term )
10 VR staff are going ( experienced full time staff )
Has to be the worst place to work in at the moment, people leaving left, right and centre.
No chance of catching up as the mail / packets are constantly heavy ( affluent area )

Agree when you respect your job its very hard to switch off totally and the build up of work on your frame will get to the majority

Agreed but at some point you have to draw the line, not in a spiteful way, but just say this is the amount of work I can manage and anything else just really isn’t your problem. who you perceive as your customers is different to royal mails, get your head round that and move on

I'm not being ignorant, there's far too many people caring far too much for far too long.

Why would you worry so much about something that causes you stress? Just switch off.

I agree with this.
When I worked in deliveries I was being bullied by my line Manager and his trainee assistant. They tried everything and I put in grievance after grievance. I even put a grievance in against the Dom who apologised and said she was getting so much pressure from above.
I was really under pressure and struggling to sleep at night and not looking forward to going into work. The reason they were bullying me was because I was doing the job exactly as Royal Mail wanted me to do it.
It got to a tipping point and I thought to myself, f**k them. After that the pressure just disappeared, I could also see a shift in the line manager who was getting more and more stressed as he realised he couldn't bully me.
He went off with long term stress shortly after and was paid off. The sad thing was, before he became a Manager he was a really nice lad.

Classic sign of an irresponsible coward. My manager did exactly the same thing.

After 8 years of him bullying, harassing and trying to intimidate anyone who stood up to him (me). He left our office through choice when the going got tough (Pandemic).

The rep didn't help, still thinks he's a "nice bloke".

People who suffer stress will often go to a manager to say they cannot finish but instead of leaving it at that they offer to go the extra thus taking the responsibility from the manager who is only too happy to not have to make a decision. I speak from experience but what I did was to go to the manager and tell him and say what is your decision? It took all my concentration and courage to keep my mouth shut and not offer him a way out. It worked for me and I never worried about it again. I hope this helps someone.

its tough but you have to become tough and they will get the message.I butt in and stick my nose in when i see my com trying to get the same people to work over when they dont want to he hates it but its crap for those that are new etc.
