Bristol mail destroyed ?

Post by ConeHater »

Heard from more than one source that much of the mail that was pictured at Bristol Mail Centre being ‘stored’ outside has been incinerated. Anyone from down that way know anything ? I went there this week and it had all gone . . .

Would find that extremely hard to believe. The mail has probably been shifted back to the offices ready for delivery. Heard comments about damp, damaged mail beginning to appear

No way that they would get away with that.

Not sure, but some may have to be, if signs of vermin being on it. Weil's disease from rat urine, for example.

Then surely it would have to be fumigated in some way? Destroying potentially thousands and thousands of pounds worth of items would cause an outcry.

Heard a lot was eventually stored in a warehouse near bristol airport. Yes a lot of whats coming through is a bit damp. Still not caught up, perhaps Wednesday will be back to normal. Saw a label yesterday for 22nd December. Not as many casuals employed as last year. I dont know if this is santioned from above, or local managers are trying to save money to get the 20% bonus, which is about £14,000 for four of them. 240 redundancies announced for 700 workforce, they all want a tesla now. This is what happens when you dont have standardisation across mail centres and you let local mafia's run amuck.

Maybe they'll just hose it down and stick them in little plastic bags ready for delivery.

Fcuk me,, that is frightening 240 out of 700,, how the fcuk do they expect the postie to cope with all that...I'm going to say something now that a lot of posters and the cwu aren't going to like. From where I'm sitting this job is fcuked, the unions fcuked,, everything in by EA,, ballot or no ballot.
Never mind about Sunday working, backdated pay,,annuallised hours etc,, gonna come in anyway.
The one thing that will define this job going forward,, which the union must now get an agreement on is a finish time:ie. No commit to deliver shite,,,I'm not gonna work delivering shite in the dark to 7,8,9pm at night-Fcuk that

If that's out of a single MC then that'll be the end of any walk sort or sequenced mail as at best they'll only have the time/staff to sort to office level only. It'll be 1 selection on manual letters, flats, packets, SDs and Tracked per RM site. Probably apart from SDs everything will go into the same sleeves as they won't have the staffing to keep everything separate

66 going from 400 at my MC
(Night shift taking the brunt of it with 45 of the 66 getting chopped, that is about 1/3rd of the shift)

Don't know if actual mail was destroyed, but in the last few weeks it has been alleged recently that D2D mail was being binned there rather than being sent on to DO's

If that sort of level of staffing cuts to night shifts gets replicated around the country, that'll just about guarantee later starts by at least a couple of hours for all DOs as with less staff, the work would take longer to process and so final dispatches would need to be made at least a couple of hours later. You'd have the lorries getting caught in traffic on top of that

The big question is how much work is going to the super hubs?

Then there is the cross docked question.
