Have you got a link to ASDA warehouse vacancies, I find it hard to believe they have a better rate of pay & T&C's as they must have been the best employers in town before they forced though changes to their T&C's?sweepster70 wrote: ↑24 Dec 2022, 19:00FilthyBloke wrote: ↑24 Dec 2022, 17:18Lol. I haven't witnessed people struggling financially at my office. Posties keep getting offered to come in early or stay out or work their day off and most reject the offer.
The overtime is there to make up for the strike days but people don't even want it.
How about the number one priority is supporting your family first?![]()
It may not be as good as it was but is the job now as good as it was 5, 10, 15 years ago?
Even the new sick pay changes RM want are still better than most companies get. Some get nowt for being off sick.
What it does show is how easy postman have had it for too long.
Stop believing what the media write.
ASDA warehouse are on better pay and t and c's than us. They even get paid sick from day one like us now. They get more leave than us because of the bank holiday rule.
Also the more green docket they do (Not black) They get paid even more when on leave.

Re: next ballot!
Seriously, you think terms of this job are under attack because they've been abused? They're under attack because it's an easy profit gain that takes no imagination to come up with. Nothing to do with the alleged 'abuse' of the terms at all. And, just because there's people who take advantage of circumstances, shouldn't mean that the solution to that problem is PUNISH ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE. What a way to think! For all the alleged sick we take, we were one of the few groups of people still working during a pandemic. "RM pays more in sick pay than other company in the UK", I doubt this but, if you have the total sick pay figures for every company in the UK, making sure you exclude the last couple of years, as no one else was at work, I'll be happy to look at them. Its also worth bearing in mind, the companies that the CEO is aiming to emulate, don't have less sick people, they just have sick people working. That's not right, regardless of how many people allegedly abuse the terms. Absolute joke. We're going backwards, for no other reason than to increase profit margins, we'll never see any part of, and people are justifying and defending it, by attacking the people standing along side them. Wow!FilthyBloke wrote: ↑24 Dec 2022, 17:42It’s the terms and conditions that many, many postmen have abused for so long.Halfhappy wrote: ↑24 Dec 2022, 17:23Yea, cos that's the only changes they want, ain't it. Just because there are employees with worse terms and conditions than a postie, and I don't know if that's true about Asda, etc... I don't work for them, regardless, that's no justification to accept that we join them. We should be progressing, not going backwards. Those people working in worse conditions should be moving towards ours, not the other way round. Seriously, what a way think.FilthyBloke wrote: ↑24 Dec 2022, 17:18Lol. People not doing van checks. Taking the mick with sick leave. Ghosting. Leaving early. They are the ones who got the big bosses head turned.
They can now see when people ghost or finish early (and still demanded a 10% pay deal!). They know that RM pays more in sack pay than pretty much any other company in uk.
The terms have been disrespected for too long.

Same old crap I heard in 1984 when they closed the mines. I moved on to another job ( Royal Mail ) and another town. Good luck if you believe everything is going to turn out smelling roses. Luckily I've done my time and leave the battlefield to others . Just hope you've got no family commitments.arsenalbob wrote: ↑24 Dec 2022, 10:52Why are people even contemplating leaving the battlefield at this crucial stage? No company can carry on bleeding money like Royal Mail are at the moment. At some point Thompson will have to get his head out his arse and make concessions that are agreeable. Keep up the pressure and we will get a decent agreement. It will make the sacrifices worthwhile. Alternatively leave the battlefield and look for another job.

If we don't get an acceptable agreement, this job is then no better than working at McDonald's. If anybody is struggling it's better to just look for another job. The good news is that even if you got a minimum wage job, you wouldn't be much worse off financially. It's the terms and conditions that made this job worthwhile and it compensated for the low wage

Re: next ballot!
This is an existential fight, there is no reason to not vote for further strikes because if we do not that will be the end of our jobs and the service Royal mail gives to the country.
I believe we may start getting a better result from Royal Mail as long as we vote in another huge yes vote. I think Thompson has sacrificed Christmas deliberately because he thinks it will weaken our resolve, and a new ballot would favour him, we cannot let that happen.

It will be on par with any minimum wage job. In fact, given how physically demanding it is for Posties, its much worse than Maccys.
