It’s the terms and conditions that many, many postmen have abused for so long.Halfhappy wrote: ↑24 Dec 2022, 17:23Yea, cos that's the only changes they want, ain't it. Just because there are employees with worse terms and conditions than a postie, and I don't know if that's true about Asda, etc... I don't work for them, regardless, that's no justification to accept that we join them. We should be progressing, not going backwards. Those people working in worse conditions should be moving towards ours, not the other way round. Seriously, what a way think.FilthyBloke wrote: ↑24 Dec 2022, 17:18Lol. I haven't witnessed people struggling financially at my office. Posties keep getting offered to come in early or stay out or work their day off and most reject the offer.
The overtime is there to make up for the strike days but people don't even want it.
How about the number one priority is supporting your family first?![]()
It may not be as good as it was but is the job now as good as it was 5, 10, 15 years ago?
Even the new sick pay changes RM want are still better than most companies get. Some get nowt for being off sick.
What it does show is how easy postman have had it for too long.
People not doing van checks. Taking the mick with sick leave. Ghosting. Leaving early. They are the ones who got the big bosses head turned.
They can now see when people ghost or finish early (and still demanded a 10% pay deal!). They know that RM pays more in sack pay than pretty much any other company in uk.
The terms have been disrespected for too long.

our wages be interesting to see if members will still vote to strike, what could sway it ,could be down to work to time, no days off, union might score an own goal with that, a lot of people are finding it hard enough to strike and relying on overtime and days off, but if they add work to time and no days off they might not get the backing from its members especially ones who have mortgages to pay.
I've been told the drivers at Mount Pleasant are losing their driving allowance from next month and they are hoping mad about it . I'd say they will be voting YES again .

Re: next ballot!
This strike has turned into total Clown World.
I have just been in the local with the dog having a pre Christmas IPA when a women come over to pat the dog.
Usual small talk.
She then said “ Where do you work?.
Me “I work at Royal Mail on strike today.”
She then said “ My Daughter is on the agency 12 hour days she’s still there now. They have even got voucher!”
Me to dog “ We’re going to the bar I need a double whiskey.”
We’re being replaced and no amount of strike action is stopping it,
The bleakest Christmas yet in my now 37 year.
Total Clown World.

Re: next ballot!
Yes indeed
But have you seen MC/Network/VOC/ Distribution recently it’s a sea of Yellow Vests.
They now have there teeth into D/Os.
No gripe with anybody trying to earn a living.
Standards have collapsed in every part of RM.
What can the Union realistically do???
The Culture is fundamentally rotten and Toxic which starts at the top.

The trap door to this company was 10 years ago. Once we had shareholders it was game over. We should have all stood outside on the picket against that. Once we went down that path it was always going to lead to this.
