I haven't witnessed people struggling financially at my office. Posties keep getting offered to come in early or stay out or work their day off and most reject the offer.
The overtime is there to make up for the strike days but people don't even want it.
How about the number one priority is supporting your family first?

Common sense thinking? Surprised you haven't been flamed to death for posting something like that.redlen wrote: ↑24 Dec 2022, 09:31norris9 wrote: ↑24 Dec 2022, 09:18It's either you support the union or you support Thompson and who the heck is going to support the latter.

Re: next ballot!
I don't understand being in a union if your not willing to support it whatever the reasons. If your struggling or whatever reason don't be in it and go back to work.
I know that there's other reasons to be in a union but sometimes they have to do what they have to do, it's not all sunshine. Either muck in and do the hard miles else don't be in it and go back to work.
I don't understand alot of the moaning and bickering what you feel like doing or have to do to make ends meet. The way I see it is if we all don't stick together the job won't be worth having but some people need to make their own decisions.

Why are people even contemplating leaving the battlefield at this crucial stage? No company can carry on bleeding money like Royal Mail are at the moment. At some point Thompson will have to get his head out his arse and make concessions that are agreeable. Keep up the pressure and we will get a decent agreement. It will make the sacrifices worthwhile. Alternatively leave the battlefield and look for another job.

Re: next ballot!
If there's a work to rule in the next ballot then overtime and working days off won't be necessary and as far as family redlen il take it to the bare minimum before I leave the job I've had to go into an iva when they were kids il do it again but I won't cross a feckin picket line.

Re: next ballot!
If there is another YES vote for strike action, it would be damaging for RM as companies would continue to use other couriers to deliver their parcels. RM has suffered profit losses over the busiest time of the year and will continue to lose more money if they don't come up with an agreement with the Union. We don't have to have 2 day strikes every week, if people are struggling with that, by announcing scattered strike dates and having continuous strike action it will still have a huge impact as no one wants to use a company that is providing an unreliable service. Are RM prepared to put up with another 6 months of this?

Either, you roll over and let Thompson tickle your tummy and take all the shite he wants to throw at you, or keep putting up a determined resistance to the most savage attack on our terms and conditions in living memory.
I know what I'll plum for.

Re: next ballot!
This is what Royal Mail are waiting for, to see how the next ballot goes! We must stand strong but also appreciate those who are struggling having to go back. As long as we can get the majority out and keep the pressure on

Re: next ballot!
I know this isn't going to go down well but the union need to make concessions too. The last letter was a list of demands, if he agreed to that the union would have got everything they wanted. They have to be realistic, give & take.arsenalbob wrote: ↑24 Dec 2022, 10:52Why are people even contemplating leaving the battlefield at this crucial stage? Re: next ballot!
It will be two ballots we the union are talking between now and then it is through the support of everyone of our members in this union that we have held the line. And will continue to do so this is not just a fight around Christmas this will carry on till we get a deal on all the issues so till then have a great christmas and a happy new year. So proud that we all stood up and be counted as one and all.

Re: next ballot!
Hardly common sense when it means undermining efforts to stop compulsory redundancies, pay cuts, cuts to terms and job security. How's the saying go again... Give a man a the chance to cross a picket line, while his colleagues make the sacrifice for him, and he'll support his family for a day. Give a man a job security, good pay and an all round square deal and he'll feed his family for life. Is that it?smok3y666 wrote: ↑24 Dec 2022, 10:18Common sense thinking? Lol. If being a postman was the only job I could apply for I would agree with you. But even with the changes it will still be better than working at Asda or Aldi or yodel or evri.Halfhappy wrote: ↑24 Dec 2022, 17:14Hardly common sense when it means undermining efforts to stop compulsory redundancies, pay cuts, cuts to terms and job security. It may not be as good as it was but is the job now as good as it was 5, 10, 15 years ago?
Even the new sick pay changes RM want are still better than most companies get. Some get nowt for being off sick.
What it does show is how easy postman have had it for too long.

Re: next ballot!
Yea, cos that's the only changes they want, ain't it. Just because there are employees with worse terms and conditions than a postie, and I don't know if that's true about Asda, etc... I don't work for them, regardless, that's no justification to accept that we join them. We should be progressing, not going backwards. Those people working in worse conditions should be moving towards ours, not the other way round. Seriously, what a way think.FilthyBloke wrote: ↑24 Dec 2022, 17:18Lol.
