Well said k979aaa, 👏, but we know and it has been said before, replace ST, and someone else will step into his shoes continuing the same agenda, A lot of the people I work with are good hard working , honest , put their best foot forward for the company daily. Most of us are not the greatest looking at the political confrontations that are being carried out by the parties on both sides, we just want a fair days pay for a fair days work. Unfortunately we are the bottom of the pile and are being trodden on, to the endgamesof both parties that are striving to get the better of one another. YES we do want to keep some of the changes wanted, and get a fair pay increase, but at the end of the day the only hardships that are happening are to us, the good hard working posties who just want to go to work , do our days work, and then go home. THE TWO SIDES SHUOLD HAVE A GOOD LOOK AT EACH OTHER THIS CHRISTMAS .
This dispute is 100% down to management, or should I say mismanagement. The union have been very reasonable and held out an olive branch to cancel today and tomorrow's strikes . This was to allow a period of calm for intense negotiations but management didn't want to know .
It's got nothing to do with incompetence or mismanagement. They have orchestrated this from day one. ST and his board (his real team) have an agenda and it is not to deliver Christmas (this time round)

Just pay us all off with the £1.7billion and whatever billions the Vesa dude has.... that will get rid of the union and you can bring in slave labour owner drivers. Maybe some current employees would stay and be owner drivers for you - maybe they could buy one of the better vans off you for a discounted price. Now you have no more pensions to contribute to, no more sick pay, no more vans to pay for, no more annual leave, you can reduce the size of your units as you won't need as much car parking space....

Just pay everyone off a decent amount.
Excellent point norris .

Thompson is just a sock puppet doing what Keith orders.

Didnt we hand them this on a plate though going back on the agenda for growth? Not fully looked into the ins and outs so could be wrong , they would always jump on the chance to rip up the t and c's as they are very good

I stand in my DO absolutely stunned by the amount of staff still rushing around, starting early, finishing late, working their days off, working out on delivery on a Sunday. I really think we should have worked to rule. Start on time and finish on time. Nothing more, nothing less. I think we have caused all this ourselves by rushing around going that extra mile for an employer who doesn’t give a hoot about us. It also seems that delivery staff are always the scapegoat and the ones being told to work harder. Delivery staff are the hardest workers and many in my office who can’t do deliveries end up on a cushy number in the afternoons or in a mail centre. When I ask them how they are getting on, they reply I’m fine now and not working no where near as hard.

Thompson and Royal Mail to blame for this mess.Dispute could of been resolved with a bit of tweaking. They have let the workforce down who serve them so well and consequently the customers they pretend to care about.

As someone posted earlier perhaps this was always RM's plan although, if it was, it's odd all the backlog was hidden yesterday only to reappear again today. Unless RM want to force down the share price it's mystifying why they couldn't come to a reasonable agreement with the CWU, as they now don't seem a million miles apart.

The CWU put forward a proposal that they would call off the strikes if RM shelved all their proposals and never let them see the light of day ever again and RM have put forward a proposal that would effectively castrate the union in the workplace.
Seems like a million miles to me.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

But those proposals to call off the strikes were nothing more than a list of demands.

You cannot negotiate a ceasefire with demands.
That goes to all parties in that dispute.

RM barely took a day to state a flat NO and thus the Christmas strikes which they claimed to want to avoid are now happening.

NO is not negotiating.

Aren’t the ‘10,000 strike breakers’ really just the people who aren’t in the union and would therefore be sacked if they went on strike?
