deduction on payslip

Post by annem »

Hi,

I noticed a new deduction on my payslip that's never been there before. It's DBCB (ex DC member) EE and it's for £14.84.
It's obviously something to do with the pension, but why is it under deductions? All pension stuff is usually under the Payments heading on the payslip.

Have you recently decided to pay into the DBCBS instead of the RMDCP?

It could be in the right hand column because it's your first payment, or because you've been on strike and your pay has reduced down to below minimum wage and therefore you don't qualify for PSE.

You’ve fallen out of pension salary exchange PSE due to deductions being made for areas of unpaid absence (non attendance on strike day). As a result of this deduction you earned below minimum wage on that payslip. Pension salary exchange is reliant upon you staying above the minimum wage.

When you are back in a non-strike week, you’ll be back in PSE and the pension payments will be back on the left hand side of your payslip.

My pay hasn't reduced down to below minimum wage. I had a strike day taken off, but I worked a day off and received the xmas bonus pro rata and incentive underpin payment pro rata. I had higher gross pay in that payslip than any other recently.
Also they deducted £17.25 of PSE adj (ex DC) DBCBS in the left hand column and added it on again.
Any other reason for this mysterious £14.84 deduction in the right column? I don't think I've recently joined the DBCBS. How can I find that out?

PSE is based on basic pay - OT, bonuses, etc don't come into it! So strike action is the most likely cause.

When you've reached 4 years of RMDCP membership, they write to you giving you the opportunity to join the DBCBS instead. It sounds like you did at some point.

I find the payslips so confusing with all the abbreviations and ot payments. There must be a more simpler way of explaining the pay slip
