RMCtv : Update on talks with the CWU today
Update on talks with the CWU today
We met again today with the CWU in an attempt to avert the planned strikes on 23 and 24 December. Disappointingly, the talks concluded without agreement so the planned strike action is expected to go ahead.
We urge the CWU to once again consider their position and the impact they are having on our business, our customers and Christmas. We ask that they call off the strikes this week and allow for discussion on how we move the deal forward. We remain available to continue to talk to the CWU.
Given we have made no further progress in talks, we will continue to focus all our efforts on ensuring that we are delivering Christmas for our customers.
All contingency activity will go ahead, and we thank all the non-operational managers who are dedicating their time this week to help deliver the Christmas post.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

They're determined to run Royal Mail into the ground.
We must put up as great a resistance as we possibly can, for as long as it takes.

Bit confused - picture on workplace today shows Thompson visiting Greenford Mail Centre - was he not at the negotiations?

Interesting they didn’t mention the impact this is having on us, their staff.
Thanks for the non ops managers though.

Pay no attention to the man behind the green(ford) curtain.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Re: RMCtv : Update on talks with the CWU today
Managers on workplace are now doing a coordinated guilt trip - if the CWU (and posties) care about their communities like they say they do, the should come to work on the 23rd/24th and help deliver Christmas for their customers ...
They are trying everything, I'll give them that
Sometimes, it's akin to psychological warfare

There’s no chance of that. For example my mate reckons the drivers in Mount Pleasant are hoping mad about losing their driving allowance from next monthjbo5066 wrote: ↑21 Dec 2022, 20:36Managers on workplace are now doing a coordinated guilt trip - if the CWU (and posties) care about their communities like they say they do, the should come to work on the 23rd/24th and help deliver Christmas for their customers ...

Yeah we have had this, must of been on the notes on that days clipboard. They wouldn’t have thought to say it themselves.jbo5066 wrote: ↑21 Dec 2022, 20:36Managers on workplace are now doing a coordinated guilt trip - if the CWU (and posties) care about their communities like they say they do, the should come to work on the 23rd/24th and help deliver Christmas for their customers ...

Re: RMCtv : Update on talks with the CWU today
You can feel the desperation in their posts - never had this on workplace for any of the other strike dates - they seem to wetting themselves a bit about the 23rd/24th ...

Yeah, but they wouldn't be ' delivering Christmas ' because 'christmas' will be stacked up in some MC or warehouse somewhere, waiting for the new yr.jbo5066 wrote: ↑21 Dec 2022, 20:36Managers on workplace are now doing a coordinated guilt trip - if the CWU (and posties) care about their communities like they say they do, the should come to work on the 23rd/24th and help deliver Christmas for their customers ...

Water off a duck’s back, as far as I’m concerned. They’re trying that one on everywhere. Emotional / psychological blackmail, whatever you want to call it. Don’t give any energy to it.jbo5066 wrote: ↑21 Dec 2022, 20:36Managers on workplace are now doing a coordinated guilt trip - if the CWU (and posties) care about their communities like they say they do, the should come to work on the 23rd/24th and help deliver Christmas for their customers ...

The reason we are in this situation is due to RM’s attack on the workforce. Perhaps they should have considered that months ago. After all, Christmas generally does fall in a similar timeframe every year (much to management's surprise).

This. The impression for months has been that they don’t give a damn about Royal Mail or us.DirtyHarry wrote: ↑21 Dec 2022, 17:57They're determined to run Royal Mail into the ground.
