What exactly does management think is unachievable with what the union has asked for?

probably all of it knowing them, they want everything their way or NO way at all.

We don’t need to go on strike,walks in my office have frames full with over a weeks post in and 16 trays and counting stacked up,and every spare space in the office filled with cages full to the brim and still it comes, it’s going to take months to catch up, people will be getting birthday Christmas cards long after the event, Royal Mail are taking money for a service they are not providing and should be investigated where’s the postal watch dog and what exactly are they watching

Surely if they were questioned by OFCOM they'd just blame the CWU/strikes and suggest they'd tried their best by using 11,000 agency staff?

What about all the other changes to our T&C's such as sick pick, removal of allowances and flexible working?

What changes are the CWU prepared to accept as surely they must know see they have to accept some changes?

They have probably already agreed to them knowing how this negotiation has gone!!!

You have to fear they have, if so, they may as well agree to RM "joint statement" and let them just get on with ruining the job for everybody.

I know what you mean mate. The level of incompetence is stunning!

It's just a game to them, see how long you can hang it out, doing the absolute minimum of ANYTHING, and then IF you get discovered... and SACKED .... then you've had an easy run for a while.

However the guys above them are equally incompetant and NEVER seem to pick up on their abysmal management. So they get away with it for literally years. Don't get me started on Managers slipping away home once everyone's gone out on delivery How's about having those Lazy Bastards SISO then you might actually be getting the full days work (that you're paying them for)! what I find more than disappointing is that if you visit ofcom’s homepage:

https://www.ofcom.org.uk/home

.. there’s no mention (on the homepage) of industrial action on communications, however upon clicking on a link they do stipulate that:

“We oversee the universal postal service, which means Royal Mail must deliver and collect letters six days a week, and parcels five days a week, at an affordable and uniform price throughout the UK.”

so why aren’t they doing just that?

I love it when the RM board say its unaffordable but they then slip up and tell a national newspaper that they have a £1.7 billion "warchest"

RMG on the whole made £758 million in operating profit this year after putting the price of postage up but is now making a loss of £1 million a day just months later

They must have Diane Abbott in charge of the accounts or something

OfCom produced a report on the 2nd December after concluding an investigation into Royal Mail's delivery performance between April 2021 and March 2022. They cite that Royal Mail shouldn't be using Covid19 as an excuse for failing the USO anymore. FFS the pandemic was light years ago!

For the next financial year the Royal Mail will obviously blame the postal strikes. This allows them to continue to fail letter deliveries even when no postal strikes will take place. But its ok, whats a £1.5 million fine to a business that is allegedly losing a million pound a day. If OfCom was seriously about making sure Royal Mail got its act together then they should fine them anything in excess of £50 million, because that is what they failed to challenge OfCom's fine with in the Supreme courts for a serious breach of competition law when TNT were delivering letters
