For the hundredth time, people have the right to work what hours when they like, provided there is no ongoing industrial action at the time.

Until the CWU ballot for working to rule or other forms of action, that is the case.

And all the bickering, sniping and other nonsense only serves to cause further strife.

Sorry, nothing wrong in my eyes. No picket line was crossed and just like the rest of us, the reps need to recoup their losses for the strike days. In fact, when people ask at work I recommend doing overtime to cover the strike days, it means they are more likely to support the strike than to have to cross the line when the choice is family or work.

Its not perfect, but it is real life and something I wouldn't fall out with people over.

And if someone has to work a strike day because they can't afford rent and they can't work Sundays because of family then they shouldn't be bullied by Union who are helping to clear the backlog. If there's no backlog then the impact on RM is lessened and the people striking are losing pay over nothing. So how these people can judge anyone crossing the picket line is beyond me. It's the impact on RM that will help push negotiations, not how many faces you get on a picket line.

Ours did that. The CWU rep. Works his holidays, works his day off and works Sundays when he gets the chance. When he was off sick with COVID he made a remarkable recovery to come in and clear his duty on the Sunday. One of the reasons I don't go to the picket line, it's full of back stabbers and snakes who'd stamp all over you to get ahead.

People are desperate. I would rather people cross and feed their families and get their kids a few christmas presents than to see them starve. Wtf is wrong with people

I think a lot of the problems stem from the fact that the workforce is predominantly made up of old men who should have been diagnosed as being somewhere on the spectrum.
The similarities in their behaviour and that of Astrid (in Murders in Paris) are frightening.

The inability to empathise with someone else's position and the absolute belief in their own point of view are traits you find in far too many postmen.
Maybe that's why so many of them still live at home with their parents.

The similarities in their behaviour and that of Astrid (in Murders in Paris) are frightening.

The inability to empathise with someone else's position and the absolute belief in their own point of view are traits you find in far too many postmen.
Maybe that's why so many of them still live at home with their parents.

Those are traits common across the entire population and nothing to do with the autistic spectrum.

A lack of empathy is not an autistic trait in itself, autistic people struggle with cognitive behavioural signals so in a particular situation they may not know why people are feeling the way they do but still feel affective empathy for their emotional state.

In this situation there isn't the cognitive difficulty since the situation is obvious and clear.

A lack of empathy in this case is more like a trait you would find in a malignant narcissist than anyone on the spectrum.

If you were looking for a commonality between those who make the most noise about people working overtime during strikes it is simply a lack of awareness in their own privilege.

Mostly full-time, kids moved on, mortgage paid, live with parents, partner earning good money etc, etc..

That's just silly if that's what you believe. If you believe in the strikes then with the prime motivation of then to mess up the system, why do you see it as ok to come in on your days off or Sunday to help them out when they're short. It absolutely makes no sense.
I have no problems with anyone crossing picket lines or working overtime but your view is just bonkers.

Personally, I think it’s madness to fight the fire one day, then add fuel to it the next. Folk maybe are short of money, but the staff doing most of the overtime at our place aren’t motivated by need so much as want.
