No complaint there but now all recruitment has to be done online with a dedicated recruitment partner and Psychometric tests.

Gone are the days when Managers had that authority to directly recruit Angard workers

But the CWU are happy to put the knife in an Angard workers back. Some have been with Angard for years and CWU members.

The CWU have never championed Angard staff to be made up, never.

If contracted staff want VR, then let them have it, do not use them as a political football, and do not use Angard as an excuse.
RM wants compulsory redundancy. There's no sticking a knife in anywhere. How can you possible support a reduction in permanent employment with terms, for temporary employment with no terms? What you're suggesting is ludicrous. Even if they were only to give voluntary redundancy, that's still a degradation in the number of permanent F/T jobs. You're saying there's a staffing crisis, while RM wants to cut jobs, and your solution is for the union to push for temporary agency staff to be used. You're blaming the CWU for not supporting something, that should be happening, and is at the feet of RM.

At no time did I state that i support a reduction by compulsory redundancy. Stated that Royal Mail currently has an horrendous staff shortage.

Am pushing for Angard staff to be made up to contracted staff on existing T&C, not inferior contracts to fill any vacancies. That is what the job of a trade union is for, and why they pay union subs for representation

The only reason that the Postal Executive would consider calling off the strikes on 23rd and 24th would be if Royal Mail agreed to in a joint statement a number of major concessions which last week they did not.

These include no increase in owner drivers , no new recruits , standing down the agency staff and agreed in an agreement no compulsory redundancies.

In addition they would have to ensure that the 9% they are saying is on offer in the pay deal was a true 9% , so the 2% lump sum would have to be consolidated. Equally the 3.5% would have to be backdated to April.

They would have to enter into negotiations over the revision targets . They must commit to no abandoning the AM period and move on their 3 bucket later start plan.

They would also have to give ab amnesty for those currently suspended and allow an independent inquiry into the overall behaviour of Royal Mail.

Finally they would have to agree to no executive action whilst the wider agreement was being negotiated.

So until they did this then it is highly unlikely that the strikes will be called off.
And no later starts. That would be a deal breaker for the majority.

Despite what management think, the workforce aren't stupid. Within many d/o that are short staffed - how the hell do they think 10 thou job losses is modernisation ? We struggle with 1 or 2 flex walks, our office aiming for 15+ duties going. You'll have 12 months of backlog by next Xmas, I'm bloody annoyed coz I'm sure we could sort this, with the help of us the workers. Damn shareholders destroying us, assisted by an anti letters board.

We need to get over this bit......they didn't "break" the agreements, they followed through on the agreement that if national IA was called then they could serve notice. That is what has happened. Neither the CWU or RM have come out of this well.
Jog on Troll :cuppa
15 years on Royalmail Chat.....hardly a troll but someone with a different opinion to you. Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story. If you still think they "broke" agreements rather than used the agreement to serve notice why aren't the CWU lawyers all over it?
Have a different opinion on here or write anything remotely balanced and you get called a troll/manager. Sadly,

If Royal Mail get their way, in delivery I can see the people who leave being replaced by recruits on inferior everything. Whether this is legal needs to be looked into.
In Mail centres there will be a 25% reduction in work going to the new hubs. Royal Mail will not replace these people.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't royal mail say they want to get rid of so called out of date, old allowances as it's not fair that people get more for doing the same job? Now that want to bring in owner drivers and people working for 20% less money?

And, at no time have the CWU said they're against agency staff being made into permanent Royal Mail staff on the same terms as current staff. You're creating a false narrative. Your words: "The CWU have never championed Angard staff to be made up, never."... once again spouting nonsense as fact. The CWU have and do support the creation of permanent jobs. I know several current RM staff who started as agency, even in the last year or two. Seesred posted a personal instance of this happening. What the CWU can't support is the replacement of staff, who've left by whatever means, with temporary staff who have no terms. Which is what is happening if RM make 10,000 staff redundant (regardless it they leave by choice), whilst keeping 12,000 agency. Again, your gripe is pointed in the wrong direction, because you have some grudge with the CWU and seek any thread you can pull at. You've went from saying the CWU despising agency and stabbing them in the back, to the CWU not championing Angard, to jobs have to advertised for everyone.

If the company wanted to resolve this dispute before now they would have been at the negotiating table with the union months back, worked out an agreement, and wouldn't be in this situation at this time, and 'Delivered Christmas' on time.
Instead they kept stalling negotiations, coming back with the same offer etc.
Don't feel sorry for them at this stage.
It is a mess of their own making. They could have prevented it all!

Are any talks happening this week?

If Royal Mail are serious about resolving the dispute and 'saving Xmas', then they should put up an offer that the CWU will accept....

but I don't see that happening. It seems Royal Mail are only interested in temporarily lulling us into a false sense of security so they can get us to clear Xmas for them. Then right after that they will probably announce X amount of compulsory redundancies. That's how much I trust these people. They are trolls.

There are supposed to be talks this week but I can't see anything coming out of them ... Supposed to have started yesterday but then Thompson/RM posted on workplace yesterday asking if anyone had been bullied/harassed by people on the picket line, and if so, to report them ... That, together with this document on workplace/RM chat saying duty holders (concensus seems to suggest it's aimed at network drivers) may have to work 26/27th, seems to me to have ended anyone's hope of a deal this week. Any normal person hoping to get a deal in RM's pivotal week would surely zip it, but this guy just can't seem to help himself; seems his eyes light up with glee every time he goes near a keyboard!

That’s exactly how think and feel . I wouldn’t trust them an inch . This no compulsory redundancy offer must be within a national agreement or it’s worthless

I haven’t heard anything positive about the talks so fully expect 23rd and 24th strike days to go ahead
