To be so brazen as to not only say that they never once put compulsory redundancies on the table but to actually come out and say our union is lying that they did, when most of us have seen and heard it with our own eyes and ears from RM themselves, means I will never believe a single thing from the board ever again. If they tell me Friday follows Thursday I am checking a calendar.

It’s clear to me that the board have completely lost the workforce.

How will those crossing the picket line for financial reasons be able to handle it when RM come for ALL allowances? If RM win the dispute I reckon it'll be WHEN they come for ALL allowances and not if they do. For some that will be a significant real terms pay cut

First thing they will do is blame the union . That’s always the default position with these people

Based on what we've heard today - a deal can be done.....

- No Compulsory redundancies.

- Sunday working to be voluntary.

- No official source as to start and finish times, but some dude on here claims Start time: 8.45 for F/Ts, 10.15 for P/Ts. As long as there is no annualised hours - fine - I could deal with this.

- Pay - needs a bit of refinement - it's not quite there.


Surely a few days of talks this weekend or early next week and a deal can be offered to the members!!! - right??????????

I don't actually believe that mate, Dave Ward has said on a number of occasions that everyone must get a good deal, I'm no fortuneteller, but the mood of this strike feels very different to any I've known and been with RM for years so I've been in a few, the level of support this has got is very strong and I for one will not agree to any deal that shafts another section of the RM group, also I think mood in the country is different, people are seeing a moral bankrupt government making rules for us the great unwashed and braking themselves, wasting billions of pounds, crashing the economy, giving money away to their mates and we have had enough, so don't give mate, we all in this together

Still miles off from what I can see.

They still want an unlimited amount of owner drivers for the large parcel network. We cannot allow that to happen.

There is still no commitment to get rid of agency staff before they remove permanent staff. We cannot allow that to happen.

They are still wanting to bring in new staff on less pay and less favourable conditions than us current staff. We cannot allow that to happen.

They still want to ram in revisions without any CWU involvement, we cannot allow that to happen.

They still want to monitor our every move via Pda actuals and use the data for conduct/dismissal. Again we cannot allow that to happen.

Apart from that yeah we are pretty close

They have already started posties on the new contracts. £11.59 per hour, no delivery supplement, no rrp, all 12 week rolling contracts,is never being able to get finance for house/ car, monthly pay, Carl sick pay. The list goes on and on. And it you think that he's not coming for everything, especially pension contribution rates yous need your heads looking at. We all need to stand strong together. The media are compliant in this. Hardly anyone know we are on strike in DWP, but the CWU, is a strong union, don't let them have their say and destroy it.

Minimum wage goes up to £10.42 in April, are people really prepared to work afternoons/early evenings, 7 days a week, minimum 40 hours, not knowing what there start or finish time is week to week, no overtime paid for working over, in extreme weather conditions for an extra £40 a week?

Plus no sick pay for short term absences. The way Royal Mail are going they will lose money hand over fist. Way more than if they had just signed off say 7% in July and moved on.
