He means 7.5% this year and 1.5% for April 23 to Sept 23 = 9%.
Ok.

I was not aware that there was a clear separation of 7.5% for this financial year and a 1.5% for first 6 months of next year, 2023...

Either way, the CWU need to communicate with members what they agree on and what they do not and what the sticking points are; not for Martin Walsh to tell just those that use this forum.

Nobody knows! RM doesn't want to backdate meaning the strike over pay will not have been that much productive given how much money lost through striking. Yes, a bigger percentage going forwards is a good thing but we might have got to the same point in 2 year's time without losing money through strikes

Till August we were paid a lump sum of the 2% if the calculation is right 3.5% back to august and 1.5% from april to august if that helps personally back pay is worthless it is your future earnings which will pay in the long run! Backdated pay costs and is just a lump sum where as .05% 0r 1% going forward will be of more benefit as it will accumulate!

What are the chances the government allow them to go to a 5 days letters service. Why are they even trying their luck so soon after trying earlier in the year? Did the government say to them at the time 'if you do X, Y and Z then we will reconsider' ?

Our position on pay is 3.5% backdated and the 2% lump sum consolidated meaning that it is a true 9-% exit rate over 18 months for a National rate OPG this would work out as an increase of £32.76 over 18 months .

We would also have want ensure that RRIS payment which over 30 thousand postmen and women receive is protected. This ranges from £5 per week to £35.
So well below inflation payrise even if it was 9% which they aren't even offering.
Basic pay £467 increasing by 7.5% goes to £492 approx
Basic pay £492 increasing by 1.5 % goes to £499 approx
Inflation based:
Basic pay £467 increasing by 11% is approx £518
Basic next year £ 518 inc. by say 10% is £570 approx .
So effectively a pay cut of about £70 and that's before they stop any allowances, which they intend to.

At the moment all that is on the table for this year is 5.5% with only 2% of that backdated to April.

Talking about 7.5% for this year is misleading and confusing for members.

Even if Royal Mail agreed to consolidate the revision bonus into pay it would still not take effect until a revision was "successfully" implemented which at the earliest would be April 2023 but more than likely later.

I already allowed for the 2% we already got in my calculations plus the additional 5.5% .
What happened to the inflation based payrise and how many other red lines have been removed.

I get that inflation means we are paying more and have less spare money but I don’t see how that is royal mails problem?
In the past we have had pay rises of more than the inflation rate of that day and we didn’t all suggest we are being paid too much.

7.5% pay increase is not to be sniffed at. If inflation hits 40% next year are we expecting a 40% rise in wages?

Yes, why wouldn't we? Is inflation based payrise beyond your understanding?

Not beyond my understanding but it’s not realistic. If inflation dropped miraculously next month to 1% we wouldn’t all be screaming for a 1% pay deal.
