What would you have did in the summer if you were in the unions?

You are quick to go on about how the strikes caused this but never so quick to give an alternative

Dave/Andy,do not fall into the trap. They just cannot be trusted,you will lose so much support if you cancel the strikes for 23rd & 24th. Also look at what they have done regarding the current sick situation,do not trust Slymon

Christmas pressure is as good as over already. This is just an open plea to make RM look sincere and genuine. They know CWU will refuse a simple plea. This is just so they can blame the CWU furthermore and make out like RM tried to save Christmas by being diplomatic

Why wouldn't agency work 23/24?
Even if we called off strike days, doubtful it would be cleared without agency now.

Because a very significant number are very calculating greedy types who always look to work what they perceive to be the easiest shifts (and most lucrative ££ wise like sundays)

very few will be willing to tramp the streets till 6pm on xmas eve, possibly a small desperate number who do not celebrate xmas maybe.

That is why they are looking to force us OPG’s back in for xmas eve.

It will be a good lesson to those “pick ‘n chooser” staffers who crossed the pickets but were hoping to suddenly “strike” again in order to get an early finish for xmas.
We saw those types turn up in the MC last sunday morning.

I’ll wager virtually all of your picket line crossers at virtually all sites will be secretly planning to suddenly claim to be “striking again” on the 23rd & 24th and all the “need the money” stories will suddenly ring very hollow….

Totally agree! If the CWU wants to go round peddling some lies then RM is using those lies as some sort of concession. Compulsory Redundancy is a mine field and Royal Mail being such a big and well done company will struggle to get away with getting rid of people with spurious reasons. There will always be some jobs for most people as an option first then an offer of VR (now on reduced terms). Moreover, quite a few are now ready to leave with or without VR; so why bother with CR?
RM has also gone through most of the concerns, Sunday working (another red herring - it was never going to be compulsory for everyone; not for a while anyway), later starts - ditto (happening but now not more than 1 hour - some already have those later starts).
Now the CWU is banging on about agency staff - royal mail wants to get rid of as many as possible anyway - they cost too much but they plug gaps because of volumes)
New starters on lower terms - the Union has been accepting that for years, why make do much noise now. We cannot stop people taking jobs on the terms specified even if lower than ours. I know the fears but that is just the way it will be.

Backdated pay - I think we could have achieved a backdated payment of the extra way back in October but now we have ruined Christmas; it doubtful but can still be a deal breaker for most of us.

Apart from the sheltered world of RM/CWU the change sick policy and outdated allowances will be hard to argue against. Are the Union even talking about those 2 issues?
