Not sure if anyone subscribes to Telegraph online?, saw an article on there, claiming Royal Mail have a war chest of 1.7billion, to defeat the union.I couldn’t read the rest of it, I don’t and won’t subscribe to that Tory paper, but it shows RM’s pleas of poverty are a crock of sh*t

If this is true they could offer us decent pay and terms rather than wreck the company.

So Health and Safety goes out the window.
Sending people out on delivery without adequate training could leave someone answering questions on corporate negligence.
No adequate driver training
No adequate lifting and manual handling
Not adequately trained to ID and reports hazards, dogs, etc
Not trained on mail security.
Not trained on vehicle checks and fault reporting.

So think carefully before taking on work with inadequate or minimal training because RM will wash there hands of you if an accident happens.

I'm not a subscriber specifically to the DT but I can get access to it. Can't see anything about 1.7billion war chest, found this though:

SHOPPERS are facing “scores of delivery disasters” this Christmas, experts have warned, as Royal Mail strikes leave customers relying on less dependable couriers instead.

According to a survey by Which?, the consumer group, two in five of all respondents encountered problems with their Christmas deliveries in 2021. With Royal Mail staff walking out today and later in December, disruption is likely to be considerably worse this year.

Despite the surge in online shopping during the pandemic, couriers still have significant problems with 14 per cent of respondents to the study, which examined courier firms’ performance last Christmas, saying their parcel arrived late. Another 11 per cent said their delivery was left outside without permission, while 8 per cent did not get their packages delivered at all.

One in four said they encountered issues after choosing a safe place to leave deliveries. Some said their instructions were disregarded, with one customer’s package left lying in the rain in their garden instead of the porch.

Specific complaints included laptops and expensive electronic gadgets being left on doorsteps and parcels being deposited in bins.

One respondent said a pair of slippers was thrown over the fence and landed in a neighbour’s pond even though they were home at the time.

In a separate survey from September this year, Royal Mail ranked second for customer service with an 86 per cent satisfaction rate just a few percentage points below Amazon.

Royal Mail staff are set to strike four more times this month, including today and in the two days before Christmas. DHL ranked worst among the couriers with a score of just 64 per cent, with UPS on 70 per cent.

Around 26pc of those surveyed said they avoided shopping with a particular retailer because of its choice of courier.

Lisa Webb, consumer law expert at Which?, said: “With postal strikes looming, many consumers will be understandably worried about whether presents will arrive on time.

“It’s important to remember that if something goes wrong with your delivery this Christmas, it’s the retailer – and not the delivery company – that you need to ask to fix the problem.”

With the superb continued support of the Non Ops managers in the operation, will the buisness supply some suitable workwear to support the activity? Coats / footwear / hats would all bee appreciated especially during the winter weather.
Alternativly a one off personal clothing allowance or some additioal shine points to cover the wear and tear on our own clobber?

You can always make a claim in the civil courts if you can substantiate negligence.
That includes lack of training. Royal Mail has both employee and corporate liability insurance.

But now.......just as they are sitting in a nice warm office counting down the days till the holiday,
they've just had their Xmas shat out the arse.
