I'm in the South West of England. It's been snowing steadily since the early hours.(Even the weather is with us). Apparantly there are big backlogs in the local mail centres who of course are striking today. We have four more strike days in the two weeks leading in to Christmas. Loads of us were cutting off and bringing stuff back on Saturday. RM don't prioritise items but it was pretty much only parcels going out. We've had a couple of rather light days because mail was not getting through -then ridiculously heavy days. We have several door to doors in my DO next week. How long can RM keep up the public charade that they are sort of coping ? It is utter chaos.

I was just wondering what people like Whistl must be think about us throwing their letters to one side and not delivering them . Maybe they should complain to DK and complain to him because its falling on daft hears with ST and co

It’s nuts. We haven’t got enough vans at our office so managers have been getting posties to prep old door to doors that haven’t gone out, they are prepping them on frames full of mail it’s a crazy sight.

Not a letter went out at ours, York after of very large parcels left in as well.

Yesterday I added 2 more full boxes of sequenced mail to the other 9 boxes that's been on the floor infront on my frame since god knows & concentrated on tracked

Virtually all of the U.K will be gripped in sub zero temperatures all this week, the true extent of this whole strike action will come to light by next weekend.
Chaos yes, when the doors close on the 22nd the units will be rammed to the ceilings.

Christmas Eve, the few strike breakers will eat mince pies and chocolates with the managers, deliver a few specials under no pressure then go home.

Many others who have spent that morning picketing on the gate, will watch them in silence as they leave.

Yesterday the best dated stamp we found was the 5th of December, 1st class. Both boxes we emptied this week have been rammed with Christmas cards, usually only 15 letters at most, now 100’s of Christmas cards, filled 2 delivery pouches.

Bearing in mind strike today Sunday there is going to be a lot of mail to be processed heading into next week's strike's. Shame the overtime bod's can't see that we would have this company by the gonads if we they just made a small sacrifice in hour's.

True story - a manager here last week was looking into sending a reserve out on the bus with a few sacks of parcels and a lightweight trolley because we have no spare vans!

It's driving me nuts the ones that are doing the overtime but not as much as the ones that are going over and coming in early and not getting paid for it.

I've seen a few posts of people slating the Union but if we have to put up with people doing unpaid overtime (and I wouldn't describe are DOM as a bully either.) etc they are fighting an uphill battle

It is utterly chaos, but most of us in the past have gone above & behold at Xmas.
It is not us that bought this on either, we just wanted decent terms in which we work too.
The Board & Simon Thompson decided that we should be trod on from a large hight & Victorian values placed on us.
I for one will be enjoying my Xmas, the 1st I have not felt shattered in years.
Happy Xmas you lot, enjoy it.

It’s an absolute disgrace seeing Xmas cards, bank cards, hospital appointments pile up and go nowhere.

It’s also a disgrace seeing regular 1st class parcels sit atop frames going nowhere as others have to take priority.


If this is “saving a company” then fu.ck knows what running it poorly is like.

It MUST be true that there is some boardroom unrest because no sane person could surely ever want to be associated with this absolute clusterfuck mayhem.
It is utterly embarrassing.
And to be taking tens of thousands of pounds home per month for overseeing it is just shameful.

I'm not sure it works in favour of IA......I suspect the country wide weather issues will now feature as a cause for backlogs regardless of the real reasons we are all witnessing.
