Our DOM asked for volunteers for nights, early IPS, and afternoon packet deliveries, all on o/t. Then he got a few casuals, scrapped the early IPS and afternoon packets. The result was entirely predictable.

6 on nights at ours me included 24 shrouds of packets for my section on sat morning no way we'd have got through without nights

They changed the hours to covering the overtime after your finish time instead of having you in before your start time. Suffice to say a massive reduction in volunteers wanting to work solo in druggie estates through the depths of a winters night.

We've got classic RM strategy put duty holders on nightshift for an easy ride.

yeah our comandant has lads in early on overtime...but also has a few "friends" taken off duties in at 4ish to sort early and finsish at 11 ish not even getting em to do anything local after sorting finished...u see them shuffling around whilst your climbing up the mountain of parcels to get to your fitting

seems i need to find the pictures these lads posses of the dom so i can get an easy ride through this

We had agency staff in doing a york of packets, roughly 25-30 items, in one compact area, over a 4 hour shift. Madness.

I think it officially started a couple of weeks ago although it got busier in the early part of November. Having said that we have been busy since the Covid was imported into the UK back in March!!! :)

Anyone remember Christmas Pressure this has got to be the easiest Christmas I have ever had, chuck a bit of mail in, go out around ten/half past with the tracked, stretch it out until clocking out time, I’ve not delivered a letter for 4 weeks

I try to deliver to each house on rotation and they are getting a delivery roughly once a week.

Yep usual "Christmas Plan 101":

Brown Nosers get an easy ride ..... in early on IPS prep your own duty then stand around with your thumb up your ass until the late truck arrives and then start gobbing off about needing more sorters on IPS so they can get "Their" mail and get out the door!

Biggest Moaners & Whingers ..... get Relief help to take out their "Akward" parcels, i.e anything that needs a signature, anything up stairs or alleyways, addressess where they know nobodies ever in, Non-Tippers.

Majority of Reliable/Hardworking/Conscientious Staff ..... bugger all help

Quiet/ Easy Going Introverts .... harrassed & bullied into taking far more than they should

Management:.... Tipping out boxes of mail onto the IPS frame, Laughing & Joking with mates, looking forward to an early knock off.

About usual for a Royal Mail Christmas Cock Up; Catches them out EVERY year! Of course it's even worse this year because the CWU has withdraw co-operation/negotiation so there's not even anyone sensible making suggestions on how to make it more achievable?
