At the rally the union was told by the police that they estimated there was 17,500 people in parliament square .Andyh335 wrote: ↑10 Dec 2022, 12:4917k they said on the news it was around 5,000?walthmstowman wrote: ↑09 Dec 2022, 22:16It was cold but what a fantastic atmosphere with over 17,000 of my colleagues . Re: London rally ....how was it for you ?
Well, I've watched clips from Sky, ITV and Channel 4, couldn't find a thing from BBC. I've also read articles from The Mirror, The Independent and The Guardian. Not one mention of a figure in any of these reports. They all refer to the number as "thousands". So, unless Andy335 produces the source, I think we should quite rightly disregard the 5,000 figure.walthmstowman wrote: ↑10 Dec 2022, 13:36At the rally the union was told by the police that they estimated there was 17,500 people in parliament square .Andyh335 wrote: ↑10 Dec 2022, 12:4917k they said on the news it was around 5,000?walthmstowman wrote: ↑09 Dec 2022, 22:16It was cold but what a fantastic atmosphere with over 17,000 of my colleagues . But will it get us anywhere regarding the 'deal'? Very much doubt it.walthmstowman wrote: ↑09 Dec 2022, 22:16It was cold but what a fantastic atmosphere with over 17,000 of my colleagues . Whatever happens in the future it will be a day I'll always remember

Am I missing something important here?
Why are you arguing about how many Posties attended the Rally? If the Police Commander on the scene said there were 17500 in Parliment Square (which they have experience of calculating for crowd control purposes) I'm willing to take his word for it FFS.
Lets move on shall we?

You've been around long enough to know these kinds of disputes often boil down to a battle for Public Support. RM play Games, and the CWU play games, all aimed at getting the upper hand in the PR Battle.rambo1 wrote: ↑10 Dec 2022, 14:57walthmstowman wrote: ↑09 Dec 2022, 22:16It was cold but what a fantastic atmosphere with over 17,000 of my colleagues . I know sometimes it feels like our own Union are treating us like children, asking for comments & likes on YouTube videos, stage managing rallies with orchestrated chanting etc but they're just playing the game. Unfortunately a lot of people nowadays are unable to grasp the seriousness of any given situation unless you play these Social Media Games and create "The Instagramable Opportunity" for taking Selfies!
