CWU : STAND BY YOUR POST - PARLIAMENT SQUARE RALLY - UPDATE : Do not attend the rally in uniform
STAND BY YOUR POST - PARLIAMENT SQUARE RALLY – UPDATE
The reaction to the announcement of the strike rally in London on Friday 9th December, at 1pm has been overwhelming. We are now close to 15,000 confirmed attendees – and that is without individual members who will be travelling on their own.
We reaffirm to all members that branches are providing transport from across the UK. This is an event that will go down in history – please do everything you can to make it.
We ask that members do not attend the rally in uniform. Given the current industrial relations climate we believe this is a sensible decision.
The weather is set to be cold so wrap up warm and if possible, come in some CWU colours (pink) – we want the strongest possible images for the media coverage.
We ask all branches to bring branch banners and supply as much CWU merchandise as possible. There will be placards and limited hi-vis jackets available on the day.
We are finalising an excellent set of speakers for the rally – keep an eye on our social media channels in the coming days for announcements.
We also want to reiterate the importance of every picket line in the UK having a presence. This is crucial.
Finally, members are assembling from Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and England in the biggest mobilisation of CWU members in history. Get to London on Friday. CWU and Proud.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

To anyone from CWU HQ reading this
Please update this ( and any other branches pages with the same wrong info )
This is part of why there has been confusion over this issue

''We also ask that as many members as possible come to London in uniform so we can create a sea of red outside the iconic Parliament buildings.''

Does anyone know if travel (rail etc) will be subsidised by CWU if you’re travelling to the rally individually?

Visually it would have had a bigger impact in uniform. 15,000 people in civvies will look we're going to a football match.

Is the "no uniform" a result of today's talks?

Depends on your branch, you would have to contact them.

What a waste of time and money. Should have called more strike dates in December instead.

Why is it a waste of money? I don't think it's an either or, with concerns to additional strikes. I think the union is is trying to balance what is sustainable for every member, with what has impact.moonjaguar wrote: ↑06 Dec 2022, 16:15What a waste of time and money. Some of the people I work with don't appear to own any of their own clothes.
