Overtime Ban!

No overtime ban at ours - less people working days off but that is probably due to no extra vans or not needed as office is doing reasonably well.

The hard core including a few regulars on the picket lines are also the go-to guys for the manager in terms of early IPS, parcels OT. And a few will be volunteering to help deliver parcels tomorrow Sunday... (A call out to the whole office today)

Why some of them are striking is beyond me: most have no kids, some work Sundays, most are good workers that will cope well under any regime (even a gig economy)? A few of them run the office - our manager has such an easy life...

In fact, ours is such a chilled office that most are even thankful (without saying it - no aggros at all) that the strike breakers are helping the office from becoming a total chaos.

Our letters are delivered - mostly. Parcels are prioritised (yes); tracked 24 mainly but we do leave the tracked 48s and non priority and letters too.

I don't know why Royal had to say they are not prioritising parcels - of course, they do. They should do so because parcels take a lot of space and we are striking - just like the Pandemic. Why lie?

Perhaps a few CR’s and heavier rounds will stop the complacency.

Office is not clear - parcels and mail are left but it is not chaotic - most large parcels are done and most letters are done...
The point is there is no overtime ban and folks are still working like previous - conscientious and willing to clear the office as soon as possible... It is not a militant office; perhaps that is why there is no overtime ban.
It is just ironic! (Some will be there today clearing parcels; Monday will be even clearer).
Why the Union did not go for Tuesday and Wednesday coming is beyond me. The last 2 weeks before Xmas will be really bad but by then Royal Mail will not bother talking or dealing with the Union...

In my office our COM said we're allowed to only spend 11 hours a day. Like someone bringing a Water Pistol to a house fire at this rate, we'll be delivering Xmas cards until mid-January.

We haven’t been allowed to work our days off or go over on our duties for several weeks now

I put a grievance in about how they are employing 2 agency lads to do the work that I could do myself in less time (and they still didn’t manage to complete it)

It was during talks with ACAS when they stopped the strikes and RM said we’d be given priority over agency for overtime

That didn’t happen so I put in a grievance and the following day they threatened to suspend me because of my attitude

Usually at this time of year I work between 30-40 hours overtime (between 60-70hrs total per week)

At the moment I’m lucky if I get 4 hours and that’s only because they give me the awkward parcels that the agency lads can’t find

It’s bonkers I’m not sure we’d be able to catch up now at our office even if they dropped the overtime ban

I believe that Xmas causals are getting priority over both agency/Angard and OT

They probably want it to be an absolute disaster.....so the share prices comes down more and Kretinsky bags the shares he needs for the takeover.

The main problem is over regulation and *possibly* those in power with other interests other than RM or the customers best interest (lol)
RM is set up to fail,.it's taken a while but it's sinking more and more each year, there's no more cut backs that can realistically be made.

To Chris J - far from militant in our office and a decent manager. But definitely not paid if we go over so people ensure they get back on time or early and throw in unsorted mail. As every where else mail has no priority unless it's lapsing!!

Shed loads of ot in our office and still half of it didn't go out. Tsunami of stuff today! People getting back at 6pm.
