Think we’ve got a pretty strong case here I mean seriously a parcel and letter business that can’t make money at Christmas
Is it haemorrhaging money? let’s not loose site of the fact that it is less than a year ago that this company had made a healthy profit using its current work force on their current terms and conditions. I believe that these attacks on our terms and conditions have been orchestrated by Thompson with the backing of the board to slice off the USO and let Kretinsky and co walk away with the assets and infrastructure of RM , so in their eye’s Thompson is probably doing a good job .
Useless CEO, can't even come on TV and debate the dispute. He hasn't even bothered turning up to most meetings with the CWU. Totally incompetent.
When he's on TV he's via video call - he's probably too embarrassed to show his face. Posties live in every corner of the country - he'd be recognised and heckled wherever he went.

He's managed to not abide by the USO for 2 years now, but Ofcom has recently told him 'no more - Covid is no longer an excuse'. The government has also rejected Thompson's request to move to a 5 day letters service, although he has now made another request which I believe has not been responded to by government yet.
So.... how can he slice off the USO if he is again rejected by the government to go to 5 days. He is not getting anywhere with it. He can choose to disregard the USO and inevitably get a fine. Is it worth ignoring the USO to save money and taking the hit with a fine each year - or is the fine too huge to do that.
If the USO didn't exist - he'd probably go down to a 3 or 4 day service. The USO is one of the main things the workforce has on their side IMO. Not only does the government/ofcom back it, I am sure a large chunk of the UK population backs having the USO in place.

I think there is a saying that goes something like “ tell somebody something enough times and they will believe it” and unfortunately that’s what RM and the media have done to the public over years , “ stamped letters are down “ nobody post’s anymore “ email will kill you “ I will give them stamped letters are down , but I used to deliver my whole walk in one bag on a bike , something which now takes up to fifteen bags and a van . What they should be saying is there’s still loads of mail but since down stream access was allowed we don’t make so much money on it anymore, so we want to walk away from our USO obligation to the British public call ourselves a parcel company and make more money for our overseas investors, who couldn’t care less about the British public . I think also you may have more faith in this government to uphold the USO than I do , Sunak didn’t even know what the dispute was about the other day.
So the piles indicate revenue without delivery costs, the loss only occurs when reducing the piles of postbags and parcels or when revenue starts to drop because users select other companies for their mail and parcels. But at the moment the piles represent surplus profits :)

The revenue this xmas will probably not be that great as other businesses are moving away from royal mail. I still think they will make a healthy profit with the backing of agency staff, and part timers really needing the overtime.
Every office is going to be more militant than others so for xmas to fail people need to stop doing ot. Easier said than done.
As for the CEO hes just a coward behind the camera & the keyboard that won't give up with his last deal on the table.
