Attacks from Management
At the mail centre where I work, we have received a number of letters regarding potential management action on cutting allowances, voluntary redundancy, a revision, when many people took part in a revision last year, and now cutting of annual leave due to the number of days we have been on strike. They reckon we will have accrued 18 days strike by 24 December, and then they will cut 2 days off our annual leave, either in this period up to late March if you have enough left, or failing that, off your next years annual leave.
None of the above measures have been agreed by the union, and these are coming from area to more local management who are trying to bypass the union.
The union rep I have spoke to on this is getting very frustrated but believes it cannot be dealt with by them locally.
Any thoughts on this would very gratefully received.
Also, the legality of the threat to remove annual leave whilst we are on a legitimate strike. I am also seeking legal advice on the company's latest move.
Many people feeling they are constantly being attacked, demoralised and denegrated by management, which is ultiimately coming from the evil infestation, Thompson.

It's legal what they are doing, you accrue annual leave throughout the year. Those are days you haven't worked and therefore haven't accrued. Don't waste your time with legal action, it will go nowhere.highbury67 wrote: ↑02 Dec 2022, 23:33Also, the legality of the threat to remove annual leave whilst we are on a legitimate strike. If you take unpaid special leave the same happens if it is excessive.

All that maybe true but its still another act of provocation, during our legal industrial action, when he claims to want peace. I for one am encouraged to be on the picket line until the end of days with such actions.CornishCracker wrote: ↑03 Dec 2022, 01:31It's legal what they are doing, you accrue annual leave throughout the year. It is an act of provocation by local management who seem to be snakes in the grass and trying to provoke and bully striking employees.richj2009 wrote: ↑03 Dec 2022, 03:46All that maybe true but its still another act of provocation, during our legal industrial action, when he claims to want peace. If it is legAL, then the local reps should be explaining that to people affected, surely?
Obviously, this strike will continue for some time, with the actions from management who are determined to provoke, rather then settle, but on that basis most who are striking could have lost more then one week or more annual leave by the end of this action.
A whole string of actions are trying to be submitted by management without union approval. I think that is creating a toxic atmosphere.

Re: Attacks from Management
Just been suspended for trying to represent a member who complained of harrassment at end of their shift and was held back after her time for bringing 7 packets back from a DPR duty and accused of not following the cut off procedure blah blah
That has now turned into intimidation and disrespectful behaviour by a CWU rep by management and im sure it will end in dismissal though Divsional reps are aware it will no doubt end up an ET.

Re: Attacks from Management
Some of the personal attacks on Thompson by people on here and other social media groups are by far the worst I have ever seen and probably ever will see, totally unprofessional. Such personal attacks that have absolutely nothing to do with the dispute i.e. the mark he has under his lip etc.
On the flip side, you have seen nothing of the sort from either Dave Ward or Andy Furey, who have rightly heavily criticised Thompson over what he is doing to the company and its workforce but never have they been unprofessional and turned it into personal remarks about his appearance. I think they have acted impeccably in both what are unprecedented times, unchartered territory and the enormous pressure they must be under.
Either Thompson himself or his advisors will have no doubt seen all this crap, and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he isn't privately making this personal too. Even Dave Ward himself has said in interviews that there are some actions from members that the union will not be able to defend.
I appreciate that these particularly nasty remarks are limited to a minority (as always), but the majority will suffer as a result.
So, please stop the childish personal insults and get behind Dave, Andy and all at the CWU who are doing absolutely everything they can, for ALL of you.

Re: Attacks from Management
Yes what they want is for us to leave and be replaced by a cheaper non union workforce so the best thing for everyone to do in my option is keep working, keep professional, don't let them get the better of you and stay strong. Know its hard but if everyone can try their best maybe they mgmt won't get what they want so we can all win.

Re: Attacks from Management
If they are forcing you to store mobile phones during shifts then that goes two ways, when you are out on delivery (or colleagues are) you / they will be uncontactable at all times.

Re: Attacks from Management
I’m surprised more people don’t know this. The exception is maternity leave where you keep your leave but if you take any other unpaid it has always impacted leave and is nothing to do with IA. The reason it’s evident now is due to the number of people that will have triggered it due to unpaid absence.CornishCracker wrote: ↑03 Dec 2022, 01:31It's legal what they are doing, you accrue annual leave throughout the year. Just wait until people also realise that the same unpaid absence will also impact pensions.

Who beats sealions with a club?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
