I was only thinking this morning when doing my own redirections, that doing them after bench merging would be a complete nightmare!

I think basically you start with your sequenced letters that are in delivery order and then insert everything else in the appropriate place.....

Can't imagine even royal mail reporting that the trials are looking promising !

What, a bit like someone giving you a load of misorts just as you've bundled up? You gotta be kidding. Isn't that what a frame was designed for in the first place?

Its literally the worst idea you could come up with if attempting to save time. I can only think theyre thinking more about saving space by removing frames.

Removing frames to create more space to merge DO's and reduce rents and running costs

Thats got to be their thinking. Cant think of any other “benefit” to this bench merging idea.

But won't you still need a, well, erm, bench! Upon which to merge. Will that not take up space?

That's what I thought plus I'd imagine the bench would need to be larger than the footprint of an existing fitting, every fitting I've seen is vertical so assuming they're not planning on lowering the ceiling to fit another floor in and replacing us with posties that are all under about 4ft6 tall then I can't see it taking up less room either.

My guess is that they plan on having each bench used by multiple walks. Walk 1 does there's and ties up, then it's walk 2's turn, once they've tied up walk 3's turn and so on
