Overtime Ban!

Any others DO's not getting o.t this Christmas Pressure? There was uproar in my little DO this morning when DOM announced there's no extended o.t for the forseeable future (he told us this when he got in late and after we had all tied up ffs!). I took first half of my HCT duty then by the time I got back for second trolley I only just had time to concentrate on tracked parcels (finish time earlier as it's a Saturday of course), so ended up leaving bottom two rows; so half the delivery, of letters and non tracked items! This company is a joke to work form had enough, this is my 13th Christmas and before this they never had overtime bans in the pressure period!

Yep, we were off obviously wed, Thurs, and day off Friday, came in this morning to most of the frame and packets not done, mountains of tracks, we took 2 bags out and just about managed doing the track parcels,left loads of standard packets, no extensions at our place, we will never catch up at this rate, I feel bad for the customers as there is mail that hasn't been out all week, all they care about is tracked, what about hospital appointment, ect joke of a company and the management haven't got a clue.

It's terrible ain't it! Yeah I left at least one hospital letter the other day. Like you said about catching up, I was saying to my colleague earlier that I am buggered now for Christmas, I cannot catch up and it will just be alternating failures, I certainly feel bad about it, it's a disgrace, I took one packet out today that wasn't a tracked on me second half as I noticed it in bundle, it was from local hospital! Feels like we are a cowboy outfit these days, I used to be proud, not anymore, like you say all they care about is tracked and SD's, not good enough, we all wanted to complete yet they won't pay us! Anyway I am going to try to forget about it and let Monday worry about itself, enjoy your weekend (or what's left of it lol)!

It seems like the higher ups have ordered all the COMs and MCMs to put a stop on all OT

Overtime being offered everyday at my office, it has never been cancelled.

Is this related to the managers bonus, i.e the less overtime they give the bigger the bonus they get, if that is the case the public need to know what is going on with there mail and non tracked parcels.

The union should get its members to not differentiate between tracked and untracked. After all didn't the powers that be say all mail is important. This would upset the apple cart. You'd have managers franticly delivering tracked. Make it uncomfortable for them.

Plenty of overtime in our office, early IPs, work your rest day, book on your walk and the office is still f****d, failed walks everywhere, even the sorting fails everyday.

We've got ppl doing nights on OT, ppl coming in early to do IPS and manager told us just yesterday anybody wants to work their day off they can and stay out as late as you like and he will pay you. We've never had an overtime ban yet!

No overtime ban at ours - less people working days off but that is probably due to no extra vans or not needed as office is doing reasonably well.

The hard core including a few regulars on the picket lines are also the go-to guys for the manager in terms of early IPS, parcels OT. And a few will be volunteering to help deliver parcels tomorrow Sunday... (A call out to the whole office today)

Why some of them are striking is beyond me: most have no kids, some work Sundays, most are good workers that will cope well under any regime (even a gig economy)? A few of them run the office - our manager has such an easy life...

In fact, ours is such a chilled office that most are even thankful (without saying it - no aggros at all) that the strike breakers are helping the office from becoming a total chaos.

Our letters are delivered - mostly. Parcels are prioritised (yes); tracked 24 mainly but we do leave the tracked 48s and non priority and letters too.

I don't know why Royal had to say they are not prioritising parcels - of course, they do. They should do so because parcels take a lot of space and we are striking - just like the Pandemic. Why lie?

If you can clear the office even at a time like this the duties must be good. When’s your revision due?
