A lot to that is for compulsory redundancies, not voluntary
There’s nothing stopping seniority being used for VRs I don’t think
The reason that most businesses try and do VRs before compulsory is for this reason - it’s more straightforward process without most of the legal pitfalls and tribunal cases that compulsory redundancy can bring
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Will agree as seniority is done on length of service, not age or sex, However?
Simon Thompson will probably go down the accepted norm first such as sick/disciplinary record first, and nothing to stop him as he has torn up all the agreements

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
We were informed last week it was to be done on seniority from management who had been told from them at the top so unless every office is different thats what will happen I guess
For people saying that selection for redundancy using seniority will be more expensive have got it wrong.
It is more cost effective to get rid of your most expensive staff first, especially those with most allowances and full 6 week leave entitlement, which will be in general the most senior staff.
Not a great deal of difference since its only 9 months pay anyway different if it was 2 years thats why they've gone down the seniority route plus far less aggro from staff
The people they should get rid of first are the ones with decent amount of service 15 plus years in there 30's, ive been there 18 years and I'm 36 I've got 30 years working left, they could pay me off and make the money back on me in a few years by paying someone less in my place, but this is royal mail logic doesn't sit with them
I really hope it's not seniority. Id rather they pay me off than spend 12 months on the sick while I find a new job. Either way, I'm gone soon with my pockets lined.

It won't come down to seniority. Their aim is compulsory redundancies so they can get rid of the people they want rid of. The older timers, sickies and slow one's basically.
