Non delivery of Parcels

Post by eastie »

So RM now want us to bring parcels back if we cant deliver them and take them out again the next day so no Callers Office.
1/ How will that work with a HCT ?
2/ Do you prioritise todays parcels or yesterdays deliveries with rounds already unachievable?
3/ Specials from previous day are they prioritised over todays tracked?
4/with bringing back about 10 parcels every day how are they going to fit in our small Combi vans?
Or as I expect they want us to doorstep without telling us officially

RM want you to doorstep them Amazon style but if there’s a claim then it’s your fault.

If you can't fit them in your HCT your van share will have to deliver them?
2/ Do you prioritise todays parcels or yesterdays deliveries with rounds already unachievable?
Today's Tracked take priority but all parcels should take priority over letters.
3/ Specials from previous day are they prioritised over todays tracked?
Specials lose their priority tag once you've attempted to deliver them, but see answer 2

By careful packing!

Speak to your customers and encourage them to nominate safe places if they are going to be out
That's how I'd expect my COM to respond if I asked similar questions

It's called "automatic redelivery" there is a thread about it on here. It either has been, is being or will be trialed in some offices. Another bone head idea from RMs overpaid thinkers.

New stuff always takes priority over old stuff as any given item can only fail once

I guess it fits in with removing CSPs and commit to deliver and is just as brain dead an idea.

Up to 5 you say? Had 17 at one house the other day. All these extra pick ups are meaning bags are coming back.

It's Royal Mail managers cowardly way of getting you to doorstep parcels.
And let's face it, the number of idiots ordering parcels knowing they won't be in to receive them, is at an all time high in this day and age, meaning most of us won't have any choice but to doorstep.
Ah, well, so be it, then.

Wrong, the hard limit is 50.

If they have 48 booked and ask you to take an additional 5, you will only be able to add 2 of the additional items.

He is referring to the additional items mandate, where a customer can have say 17 items booked, but when you go they give you more than the 17 on PDA. You can now add 5 additional items to their order, meaning they could give you 22 items on that day.

While our start/finish time remains I couldn’t care less. I’ll take the parcels out each day knowing they are at work 9-5, then I’ll simply P739 them each time until they are returned to sender. Then when I get moaned at I’ll tell them to put in an official complaint. If that means I can’t deliver a single letter then so be it.

Obviously things change if/when they bring commit to deliver.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.
