How much annual leave can you build up? And do you get credit for B/H while sick?

Post by cheerful »

I'm on a 4 day contract, but on bank holiday weeks I still work 4 days, so get a bunch of days in lieu each year.

Will there be any problems starting next April with 4 weeks already saved up? I've already booked enough time off till then.

And last xmas I caught a bad case of covid (from work, took out all the frames near me). I was off sick over xmas and New Year. I'm assuming I don't get credit for those bank holidays, but would like to know for sure.

How have you got 16 days saved up from bank holidays? Doubt they will let you take that much carry over into next yr, it would screw up their leave plan. Ask the manager though rather than here as they will have the say not us. If they can't give you the days off they will have to pay you. Sick on a Bank holiday? not sure on that one . Id ring HR up for advice first. Maybe they have already credited then and that's why you have so much?

Generally speaking you can carry one week of your contract hours over to next year. I believe exceptions can be made as a result of being on long term sick.
If you have a book room/ guy who does your leave speak to them as they'll have the answers you need.

The agreement states that you can carry over one week with mutual consent. Both have to agree. If you have more than one week then they either have to let you carry it over or make you take it before the new holiday year. Legally, they cannot take them off you.
