World Cup 2022 - How to celebrate the championships while at work

The World Cup football championships take place from Sunday 20 November to Sunday 18 December.
Will Brazil win for the sixth time? Or are England and Wales in with a chance this time?

With England’s first game next Monday 21 November at 1pm and Wales playing on Friday 25 November at 10am, we appreciate that colleagues will be wondering how they can keep up with World Cup progress within work hours.

Watching or listening to the games
Managers will need to balance the needs of the business whilst allowing employees to enjoy the World Cup - and it is important that operational deadlines and customer service requirements continue to be met.

However, managers will have authority locally to exercise a flexible approach that allows colleagues to watch the game whilst also ensuring that frames are cleared.

Please check with your manager for arrangements in your unit and ensure you work with your manager to ensure delivery of a normal service if you are watching the game.

Displaying flags
Flags on vehicles can be a distraction to other road users and poorly positioned items can block vision. Poorly fitted items can fall off and be an obstruction or hazard. Flags also introduce a risk of confrontation with other road users and pedestrians. For this reason we do not permit celebratory flags to be displayed on any of our vehicles.

Let’s work together to deliver normal service and enjoy the games. May the best team win!

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Nice to see people talk about watching the football being hosted in a repressive country that literally worked their I migrant workforce to death to build facilities.

This’ll be the same people who big up the union I suppose, solidarity, workers together etc etc

Are you referring to the people in this thread?
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Surely not. I suspect he means the union members, workers etc who worked hard, saved cash and bought and paid for flights, hotels and match tickets through using their own individual freedom of choice to enjoy the experience of World Cup football and leaving the international politics to those who's job it is. It is also that same freedom of choice for anyone on here to watch the football if they so choose and have the ability to do so. At least that's what I hope he meant to say!
