Company’s lack of concern for customers on show, says union
The Communication Workers Union (CWU) says that it has today been informed by Royal Mail Group CEO Simon Thompson that negotiations to find a settlement to the long-running dispute on pay and change will end on Monday 21 November. The notification comes after the company presented documents to the union today with a deadline of Monday for workers to agree to them.
A CWU spokesperson said:
Millions of customers and thousands of businesses are relying on the postal service. 120,000 postal workers are desperate to protect their terms and conditions.
The next strikes are on Thursday – for the company to walk away from talks three days before that is reckless.
We call on the government, media and all businesses to demand Royal Mail takes a serious attitude to these negotiations and matches the unions commitment to reach an agreement.

Desperation there. Royal Mail has basically called our bluff and said do what you want, we will push on. December is the time people say that we strike to win, well, never known a strike in december before and that is starting to look like a load of cock. It deosn't seem to matter to the CEO when we strike.

It doesn’t matter to the ceo because people come in after strike and clear the backlog for an hours docket when they just lost 2 days pay I get it everyone needs money but sometimes people just can’t help themselves same as the come in early don’t take your breaks rush round cutting corners no van checks brigade yet I guess we all want to get out of the crap ASAP

Royal mail do not care if we strike through december they have already lost the large customers who rely on them they have already jumped ship we will keep striking and royal mail will just plough on regardless, the days of working 20,30,40 years for them are gone, a few of the younger generation in the office i work at asked me what i would do in their situation my answer seriously consider another job was my reply royal mail do not care what we think, what i would like to see is the offer which has been put to our union, what i will say at this moment the whole office is behind the union, i do not expect for one minute there will be an agreement i hope i am wrong.

And why cant it be a bluff from him exactly? Actually striking in December is the only way to find out....Surreypostie wrote: ↑20 Nov 2022, 10:49Desperation there. called our bluff - that is your depressed outlook perception - do you think ST is happy with the company financials as they are and as they will be if we strike?Surreypostie wrote: ↑20 Nov 2022, 10:49Desperation there.
