Re: Thimbles/trimbles
Trimble and yes they know where you are/what speed you're going, some of ours have been been warned for speeding/they record if you're braking, cornering, accelerating excessively, or sat still idling.
Then of course your PDA is also tracking you there's no escape
Oh yeah iirc in the list of things RM want Trimble evidence also features as a means to discipline us for speeding etc.

Re: Thimbles/trimbles
I can't work out how the GPS works as it just seems to pick up speeding in selected locations rather than on every road.

Re: Thimbles/trimbles
I would think our trimble works in the same way as the "black box" insurance companies use for new drivers. They can monitor every aspect of your driving and the gps part is to provide info of things like speed limits of roads that you are currently driving on. If the "info" hits certain predetermined parameters, a red flag is raised in the system and a report is generated. The info is then used to "coach" the offending driver. Of course repeat offenders will get more seriously "coached" and or conducted.

Re: Thimbles/trimbles
Yes.It is does have GPS on it and yes it generates a report of unsafe driving activity. The data produced by then Trimble also shows when the vehicle is stationary, keys in the ignition and the motor is running I.e. rurals who jump out of the van and leaving it running .It can be filtered so you can see when vans are being outside of business hours and when the van breaks the national/local speed limit on sections of road.

Re: Thimbles/trimbles
Sat in the van yesterday and my mate came back aghast that I had engine running trying to demist the windows as was soaked and steam was dripping down. She's like I could get in trouble for idling and laughed it off, maybe they'll give me a load of blue paper towels to wipe the windows?

Re: Thimbles/trimbles
Worst case of idling is during winter when my gear box is frozen & it's left in gear & I have to sit in the van with my foot on the clutch for around 15 minutes

Re: Thimbles/trimbles
Is it a Peugeot partner, haven't had it that bad but certainly difficult to change gear until the engine's warmed up when it's freezing weather.
