When you discuss a new door with the salesman they will always try & sell you a low letterbox it’s easier to fit & apparently makes the door stronger

Refuse to deliver as H/S grounds it is then.

I remember last year when i bought a new front door, I made sure that the letterbox was at a medium height specifically for this reason (i actually work in processing, i've only done one weeks o.t on delivery a few years ago and that was enough to see how much of a burden the low letterboxes are).

It's one of those things that you don't realise how much of a pain they are until you have to use it for its intended purpose.

The worst are the floor height letterboxes with re enforced bristles that deflect the letters right back at you. Any door to doors that enter end up scrunched in the void.

Had a look on the B&Q site and it seems to be a right mix of mid door and low door ones. A good few don't even have a letter box

Last Xmas I had one of those stupid wreaths covering the letterbox.
Took it off and put it on the doorstep (whilst having to juggle my pda and bundle of letters), delivered mail.
Guy comes out"why did you take the thing off the door?".
Had to bite my tongue fecking idiot.
Next day sure enough there it was again.
Knocked on the door no answer.
Mail goes back to office for maybe a week.
Following week fecking idiot seems me in street and asks why he's not had a delivery.
It's at the office, make sure you take some ID when you go collect it.

Yeah they're great especially when the ribbon crosses exactly on the letterbox so it's difficult to get anything through without damaging it.

Mind you my personal favourite is when someone's leant the ironing board up against the door and when you put the mail through it pushes it over

You try not to knock it over, but it's kinda satisfying when you hear the crash.

I had one who placed a potted plant on a table in the porch about 6 inches in front of the letterbox, the folded A4 envelope did the job
