1/4 or 1/6

Post by funkflex55 »

Hello,

Please can someone explain what going to 1/4 from 1/6 means? Apparently the office will save 150 hours a week if this happens. I was chatting to the manager about the future of the office, he said they were due announcements later this week about the redundancy and hours cutting situations.

Thanks. Not sure how that would save the office hours. If the posties do 5 days a week then it would just mean a different day off from Saturday. Or is it due to the hours less working on the Saturday?

When we lost ours we were told it would create more full jobs - it created a few but not as many as they promised...

It would not save any hours but it would make it easier for the manager to clear walks that do not go out on certain days due to us not having enough delivery staff, they're already doing it,leave your walk in today take that one that got left in yesterday

Still have the 9 day fortnight , best thing we ever did , days slightly longer but worth it for the extra rest days.

We have 1/4. We get Friday Saturday off and Monday Tuesday the next week. So 5 days off every 4 weeks. The other 2 weeks you just get Wednesday or Thursday off. Longer days work till 1600 on Wednesday and Thursday.

I thought the OP meant 1 in 4 weeks off and 1 in 6 weeks off?

We have a half wallington. 18 days on 3 off, 12 days on 3 off. It works well……for now, but I’m sure the enemy would love to remove it.

Didn't even know people still had the relative luxury of 1/4 . We all went 1/6 about 8 yrs ago thanks to the CWU persuading part timers they'd get more Saturdays off if they voted for it. Go figure?
