4 mins. We do park and loop over a dense city area, so the driver will drop me off and we will then meet at a certain future designated place to refill the next loop , providing traffic , letters and packet amounts, P739s, trying neighbours, etc. There is always going to be a time difference when you both meet up in the designated place, petty manager, I would request a rep in if this happens again ,so far in our office this problem has not occurred, ..............

The guy had a good reason - he was in a block of flats that has a large wall of letterboxes in the lobby area - but this isn’t the point. The fact he was pulled in for not moving for just 4 mins is the bigger issue here. If it was say 20-30 mins I could understand, but for 4 mins?!?! I often stop to talk to my customers - how long until I’m pulled in the office?

Think a dot is 2 mins and gets bigger the longer you are inactive. If you regularly stop and perform no meaningful work for royal mail outside of your allowed breaks then yes you will be hauled in front of the boss.

I'll stop for an hour if they take me straight to Simon.

The managers might assume that you've been sat in the van during the time that you was doing the loop. probably the only way to eliminate the issue would be to retrofit in cab cameras into all RM vans

If this happened to me, id pull out my iphone and show him my own “pda actuals” in the form of the data on my Health app. He’d see that most weeks im walking over 55 miles, and climbing an incredible number of flights of stairs- this week for example its 200!!!!

Id tell him that just getting through Friday and yesterday took all my mental strength as i was pretty much like a zombie due to tiredness. Then despite a 2 hour nap yesterday afternoon i had to cancel plans with friends last night as i was just EXHAUSTED. Bed by 10 on a Saturday night whilst my friends were out having fun probably wondering how i could be so tired from my postmans job . . . little do they know!!

On top of this tiredness my shoulders are f**ked and i ache all over.

If my COM dared question me for a 4 minute stop, i dont know how i could control my reaction.

I’m in the same boat - my partner never helps me and is usually back to the van before me, sometimes by 5 mins or more. Only a matter of time before he gets called in to see manager. For me that’s the only silver lining in this whole “big brother” situation - my lazy arse partner might actually come and help me.

Most of the park and loops I do it’s very difficult to know where your partner is, lots of tiny cul de sacs, cutting through alleyways etc. Signal on my network out there drops in and out so I can’t ring them plus I’m one of those who thinks why should I use my phone for work purposes especially given how we’ve been treated this year.

If only we all carried some kind of digital scanner which could be enabled for us to track where our partner might be

For the record my longest wait was 35 minutes when I was doing a round for the first time and was told to wait on a particular street to be picked up. I didn’t have his phone number even if I wanted to ring him, had no idea where he’d be (he was actually 3 miles away delivering to farms etc, very poorly designed loop).

Wow, I couldn't put up with that. But I do appreciate that it's difficult to address. Such selfishness is shocking at a time when pulling together has never been so important! I may be out of touch with the culture that's been allowed to develop, of course.

I generally do help, I'll either run oversized or take mail off people but it depends who. Some in our office are that slow, deliberately so in some cases, that I end up doing 75% of the walk. If people take the micky like that I refuse to help.
