PARCEL COLLECT ENHANCEMENTS – Enhancing Parcel Collect, more information for existing customers. (Leaflet).

As you may know, one of this year’s key strategic goals is to grow Parcel Collect. Since its launch in 2020, it has turned into a much-loved service and helped us meet a key customer ask.

We are enhancing our current Parcel Collect service (launching Friday 11th November) to enable customers to hand over additional items, even when they’re not booked (This will initially be limited to 5 additional, un-booked items). To take advantage of this new feature, customers must already have a pre-existing booking for that day.

We need your and your teams help deliver the message about Parcel Collect; the convenience to the customer and the fact that in most cases they will save money on their parcel postage when booking online.

In order to highlight this enhanced service, from Friday 4th November we will providing some leaflets which your team can hand to their customers when they collect their items. If you do not receive these then please contact centralopssolutions@royalmail.com

Please can you ensure there is an allocation of these leaflets on your team’s delivery walk frame, and ensure they know they should sort one to the frame when they have downloaded their collections, ensuring each customer with a collection receives a leaflet.

Operations Process:
·These leaflets are not to be treated as D2D; they are specifically for customers who have parcel collect bookings.
·The Postie should say to the customer “you may be interested in this” and hand to them when completing a Parcel Collect collection.
·Leaflets should be sorted into the frame once collections have been downloaded to your PDA as this will provide the detail of the addresses

Please ensure that addresses who have opted out from D2D or marketing mail do not receive a leaflet.
Please note that accepting additional items is on a ‘best-endeavours’ basis, considering an OPG’s capacity and the pre-existing, booked collections for that day.

The limit of 5 items should not be discussed with the customer, referring to best-endeavours and physical capacity to take the items.

This company are really going for the “white lies” approach to business management aren’t they?


Don’t TELL them it’s 5. In fact, we won’t put its 5 on the leaflet.
Or on any online information.
But when you turn up at their door and they’ve got 10 just mumble something about “capacity and best endeavours”.

And when they wave the leaflet at you that you handed them last week saying they could post what they want just make sure it’s YOU who looks like the dick.

We all have plenty of time to faff about on the doorstep in the lead up to Christmas.
And then, of course, sort it into the van (no problems there) and get it into the right place when we get back.

By all means do lots of parcel collections.
Just give them to someone else to do.
Take out an empty van, bring back a full one.

This is a load off bullocks but anyway recently I had a parcel collect on my pda but when I collected it off a 10 year old kid it had no label/barcode on the parcel, got me thinking is it this?

I am now guessing not because if I am reading this right ithis type of collection doesn't show up in the pda correct?

Anyway I declined the collection saying theres no label on it and you've not requested one off us.
