You’re in your 20s…would you stay?

Post by Postie3232 »

Title says it all. Have been in the job for all of my 20s and it is only getting worse, can’t stand it anymore. Would rather get out before it’s too late but don’t want to leave and regret it. Would you stay if you were in your 20s or is there really much better out there?

The same question would let one of your kids join RM, not on your Nellie, get back to school.

Unless you have plans to get into management then the job is only going to get tougher and take more of a toll on your body and health as you get older, while the pay will get closer to minimum wage.

I would run rather than walk away while you can.

I’m in my early 50s & am thinking about going back into education - if I was in my 20s I’d be off in a heartbeat.

I have to endure another 10’ish years before I can retire, you have around 30
“Shorts,in this weather?!”

“If they’re bills I don’t want ‘em!”

“What’s she been ordering now?”

Think about it, do you really want to be in a job where you are wishing your life away?

I would leave but always get a job offer first before jumping ship.
Go while your back knees shoulders and feet are hopefully in a good way

Difficult one, and no I’m not being sarcastic.

I left RM in my 20s, disillusioned at the incompetence of my managers.

Returned in my 30s, still incompetence across the board although my line managers, sorry, COMs, are a bit better. I have just 8 to 10 years to go until retirement.

If I keep my 4 day week (wouldn’t mind going down to a 3 day week), if we can fight off Sunday working, ridiculously late finishes and if Simon stops calling us team, I think I could just about see it through. Those years will go quickly.

If I’m put on a 5 out of 7 day contract and they force through us being out on the streets gone 5pm, I’m out of here.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

If you can get something else then go. Would not recommend this job to anyone anymore they will just run you into the ground.

Why on earth would you stay in this job? People who think this is a good well paid job are out of touch with the real world. Even managers in RM are poorly paid compared to managers in other jobs. The money is dreadful for the amount of workload a delivery person gets. I know many unskilled people earning double what a posties salary is. I know middle managers earning eye watering figures plus decent bonuses. I am so glad my children avoided the doors of RM.
Many RM staff I know are barely surviving on this pitiful wage. Maybe the answer is to move more north where houses and rent are cheaper. If only I knew then what I know now. Also why can’t I find any firm that’s overtime rate goes down after so long? What a great incentive. I’ve seen many youngsters leave recently for better paid roles which is something I never use to see. I’d love to know our staff turnover. This is where we can save some money surely.
