Thing is people do like timed deliveries and being able to see how many calls the driver has until they get to your house .

How do we compete with that ?

Very easy to achieve that.

Completely separate off the letters and the parcels sides of the business from one another, then reduce letter deliveries to 3 days a week...

-Our parcel service becomes far more up to date, user friendly and convenient for the customer and recipient

-Our letter service becomes far more streamlined and cost effective compared to the current 6 day USO which is insanely inefficient.

-Redundancies available for the thousands of posties who are desperate to get out.

-RM becomes more profitable for investors

I think the separation of parcels from letters has been on the cards for a while now. I think letters would be Monday to Friday though, and I'm not sure if the current RM would want to keep them? Or here's an idea, parcel driver could drop postie off with his bag of letters and then drop off the remaining bags of letters into boxes that are spread around the delivery, you could call them oh I dunno, pouch boxes?

Do they really like it or is it something that's just been forced upon people to believe they want it. Most people are out at work, socializing or at an appointment, Christ can't even get rid of SD most of the time and yet they're supposed to be urgent items people are waiting for. I get a message from any courier or RM to say they're delivering that day and then another to say the item has been delivered. That's enough, I don't need an hour by hour blow by blow account of where Jose is and how many calls he's got before getting to me. It's just more nonsense cluttering up our daily lives. Christ if you're getting up in the morning following a courier on your phone then you need to look at your life and get out a bit more. It's just another thing that's been pushed onto us by execs talking bollocks.

Most couriers if you're not immediately at the door, the parcel goes straight back into their van and they're gone, they basically give you about a maximum of 10 seconds to answer the door

The thing I've noticed with DPD is that I'm parcel drop number 80 or something and by the time it gets near to that number the driver is done for the day and I end up getting delivered the next day. Happens every time. They must underestimate the time it takes and overload the driver like RM and probably expect the driver to do overtime.

Always said this. Nobody really has a patch on the kind of security we offer in delivering stuff. Some OPGs do make you wonder but by and by Amazon, Evri etc don't have a viable dib procedure and constantly doorstep even in the pissing rain.

That being said the Amazon driver on my walk is an absolutely sterling bloke. Never chucks stuff, leaves it in secured, sheltered places etc. Does a top job, stops to say hi etc.

The ones in the area where I live, however, live up to the common stereotype.
