Going back to pouch boxes
As posted sarcastically on a different thread, but would going back to pouch boxes be a more effective way of delivering letters while drivers did packets and parcels?

They certainly have not all been removed. We still have them on some of our loops and indeed just this last fortnight new ones have appeared!

Still got a few around where I live, only plastic ones though all the metal ones where nicked just leaving the post and concrete poking out of the ground. New ones ? What can that mean then?

Re: Going back to pouch boxes
Well in my DO area they been taken away either RM or the local(useless) council
Think you have to ask council permission to put them up
I would go back to using them again

All the ones locally have either been removed or are so rusted that a kick would probably break them

Re: Going back to pouch boxes
God knows I wish the job would go back to working off pouch boxes for three hours. We've still got a handful of walks set-up that way. Everywhere else they've either rusted into stumps or they've somehow survived the last decade but the keys have been lost to time.
Thinking about it, you could probably get an entire duty's letters in one box now. With an LWT you wouldn't even need a box at all.

The machine stops.

Re: Going back to pouch boxes
Everything being discussed here would make perfect sense with a reduction in the letters USO, but is pointless under the current 6 day format.
