Scan in and out

If you go to SISO on the PDA it brings up "start shift" or "end shift" and clicking one automatically signs you in or out. No need to scan a card at all if you're logged in.

According to the official paperwork you only use the facility on your own PDA in exceptional circumstances ie: you get back late to find the office locked thus not able to scan on the office PDA. Apparently they insist on everyone using the office PDA, whether this will be adhered to by managers who knows but just beware of going off piste and doing your own thing!

Well, if the way it's going to be implemented in our office is anything to go by, I wouldn't be expecting anything to change at all.

And again with the greatest respect, I see nothing changing (for better or worse) in our office and beyond, caused by simply passing a barcode in front of a scanner twice a day.

That would make sense if you see the queue to get your pda from the locker usually ,you'd have to come in to work an hr early to start on time!!

Bearing in mind we're only pressing a button and scanning an ID card I can't see it causing that much of a delay. I've worked at Businesses with Clocking In/Out machines before .... and you'd be amazed at how fast 100 odd blokes can clear a certain point at knocking off time!

You misunderstood me. I'm taking about the time it would take if everyone did it on their own PDA. It would take an age to actually get your PDA in a morning.

How can they deduct 15mins for being 6mins late lol . What if (in the extreme unlikely, lol) case of the office PDA crashing in the morning, you can't scan in on time?
Maybe if you are 6 mins after your time finishing, they will round it up to 15 mins.

Pretty standard, My dad used to have this in the early 70s.
Honestly its simple, turn up on time, scan in, go home on time scan out, Its not difficult.

Our then DOM once said to us "your finish time is your official finish time, if you choose to come in early that was your choice but the clock will only start ticking from your OFFICIAL start time".

So you now have SISO monitoring you, PDA Actuals monitoring you, Trimble monitoring you, next will be live body cams supplied to every postie to monitor every movement, record every word spoken etc; with the DOM being able to view you live in action on their office screen (without you knowing) while sipping their coffee. Normally I would say that was a joke but with everything else going on.......who knows? Just remember to point the camera to the sky when having a piddle

Have a word with your rep, he's talking rubbish. They cannot use CICO to determine pay. (Yet)
