How will redundancy work?

If all 10,000 were to get the maximum, that would cost RM 170,000,000 not bad for a company that is skint.

Thats a maximum going on govt guidelines. It'll probably be much less.

Not if MTSF terms are ditched and payouts are more in line with what you’d get under Statutory Redundancy terms, they won’t!!
I just used the gov.uk website to calculate what I’d be entitled to.

This is why don't jump the gun find out first most probably next year but it may never happen. As a lot of people have had enough of being treated like s**t and are looking for other jobs regardless of the terms that is what a toxic employer RM has become they cannot get anyone to work for them. Maybe they could take a leaf out of the russian dictators book and mobilize/draft people under punishment of death to work for the idol rich incharge of RM and make them eat dog food and sleep in fox holes for a living!

It's hilarious to see all the time you're spending trying to work out how much you'll get......as I have said, you can't even get a new pair of uniform trousers without a fight due to constraints on spending - and you REALLY think that thousands of you will be made redundant, costing millions?

Even if you paying 10000 workers £10k that’s still £100 million.

That is only the short term cost, you have to look at the long term savings on wages for the 10,000 job losses. The problem is Royal Mail don't seem to do long term.

RM couldn't even state an approx. cost/saving when they announced the imaginary job losses to the stock exchange, any other company announces the figures so the shareholder can see the long term savings.

I wonder if it's just another tactic. I know evidence is annacdotal, but our office is much the same as most on here say: we've got 15 or so vacancies. Our gaffer said this morning she's had 10 resign in the last few weeks due to the strikes and uncertainty around to proposed changes coming. That's just with the proposed changes, if they actually force them through they'll be more surely. They could easily find the numbers they need through natural turnover and not spend a penny.

Agency and people chasing docket to cover the strikes mean our office is clear, but it ain't sustainable that's for sure.
