Re: 6000 redundancies
Most offices I know have massive vacancies not filled. Not sure where these losses are coming from. Assume they will be paper losses.

Re: 6000 redundancies
Got to be mainly in DOs, as MCs already have a good % on shift are casuals/agency. According to Google there are 1,356 DOs so 6,000 divided between them works out about 4 per DO. Generally over the last 10 years+ in MCs when anyone leaves for whatever reason, they're not replaced, just another casual/agency used, as and when RM deem it necessary
Think it's too many to be management as I'm not sure that there's 6,000 plus managers up to and including all levels as high as COM/MCM level.
How many people are on temp contracts across all DOs and MCs?
It's appearing on various news sites, none have any details yet.

Re: 6000 redundancies
Reading into their plans for the future, scrapping the USO, cutting to Mon - Fri letters, being a parcels company that delivers letters etc....
Notice how it is always when they are about to go into talks with the union that they announce these things to the press before talking to us first!
This was always in their plan and what the union have been warning about and fighting against for the past while now.
Thompson and his like have been just waiting to blame the strike action as the main reason for these cuts but we all know that with lapsing and the use of temp staff for years now it has always been on their agenda.
Stand strong guys and don't be bullied by them.

This is another attack on the workforce. Let the ship sink and take the rats down with them. If Simon & Co can't actually come up with a proper pay deal before xmas then more job cuts could happen.

Re: 6000 redundancies
They lose 5000/ per year through natural wastage….. they once cut 20000 positions without compulsory redundancies through advanced planning.
